Collection 2000 Big Fake Mascara: First Impressions

Yesterday I picked up the Collection 2000 'Big Fake' false lash effect mascara after reading Pixiwoo's rave about it in their recent blog post. I thought some of you may be interested in the results...

My first impression of the mascara was that it seemed like quite a dry formula. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's noticeably more dry than most. It also has an exceptionally huge brush so if you have a preference for smaller/comb wands then this may not be for you!

As for the results I have to say I was very impressed.

Before
After
It's not incredibly lengthening but does wonders for the volume of my lashes, and seems to fan them out very nicely. It is quite easy to smudge it on your lower lash line due to the size of the brush, but apart from that I'm very impressed indeed. This is one of the best drugstore mascaras I've tried, and one of the cheapest at only £4.99 (available from Boots)

As for wear throughout the day, I'm currently a few hours in and it's looking good - I'll update this post again once I've worn it for a few days and let you know if my opinion changes!

UPDATE: Lasted all day without smudging or flaking, but I must say the lengthening effect did wear off throughout the day (but to be honest that happens with the majority of mascaras!) Overall I'm really impressed with this one - I would definitely recommend it!

  2. I would really love to get this mascara, but I don't think it's available anywhere in the U.S.

    If you would like to do a swap for anything that you might want from around here, I would be more than happy to do so :)

    let me know, Fleur!

  4. I've recently purchased this mascara too and I have to say it is my favourite mascara to date. It's so easy to apply and it doesn't make my lashes hard and brittle like a lot of mascaras. It lasts all day and isn't hard to remove either. I'd highly recommend to anyone :)

  5. I did a review on this a few months ago....Its really great isnt it... cannot believe its by collection 2000. It took me a while to get used to the bigger brush as i usually use smaller ones but after that i love it.

  6. i used to always buy collection 2000 mascaras because they separated out your lashes much better than the rimmel and Maybelline ones. But more recently I've gone off them because they make my lashes feel so krusty and dry!
