If you are a regular reader of my blog, you'll be aware that I am currently participating in a challenge to test out Aveda's new Smooth Infusion line of hair care products. For the last month I have been putting the products to the test not only in the salon and at home, but during everyday life which (let's face it) at this time of year can be rather challenging for frizz-prone tresses!
Aveda claim that their products will keep your hair frizz-free and immune to humidity for up to twelve hours and I have to say, I do think their products live up to that claim. As an example to show you all, I snapped some pictures of my hair during my seven hour journey up to Scotland yesterday.
Sufficiently coiffed before I left
After 5 hours of dashing between platforms and cat-napping
And for the real test? When I arrived it was so windy and drizzly, I felt like I was in a washing machine! Although the curls dropped, the frizz was certainly kept at bay - I must say I'm impressed!
(On a side note... this is why I came to Edinburgh!)
I do have a few criticisms of the line. My main complaint being that there isn't an accompanying styling product designated to use with the other Smooth Infusion formulations. I think a serum would not go amiss in this collection, especially for 'second day hair' (although I'm sure Aveda do cover this within their range of styling products, I think it would be nice to have something included in the Smooth Infusion line-up!)
My second niggle is with the Glossing Straightener, which I felt left my hair feeling slightly weighed down. I felt this let the line down slightly, but having said that I rarely wear my hair poker straight so perhaps this product was a little wasted on me.
I think overall I was most impressed with the shampoo and conditioner, which are highly concentrated, beautifully scented and will definitely be repurchased. The Style-Prep Smoother is also a lovely product, but if you are counting your pennies, I'd say go for the shampoo and conditioner as even when used alone, they do wonders for my frizz-prone mane!

Hi Fleur! I'm glad that in the end it did work! I would love to try these products, but they don't ship to the Canary Islands, or Spain...so I guess that if I want to try them out I'll have to wait until I go to Scotland to visit my family :)
ReplyDeleteTry the Light Elements Smoothing Fluid. I think its just what you're looking for!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reviews,
cheers!

Cute Blog (:
ReplyDeletelove your hair :)
definitely buying this next time I make a stop into the store, thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI have the Smooth Infusion shampoo and conditioner and they definitely make my hair nice and smooth! But I don't think the shampoo is good for people with oily scalps. The shampoo doesn't cleanse my scalp as much as I would want it to (my mom uses them now). Nonetheless, they are great for preventing frizzes! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat, HONEST review. I haven't tried AVEDA products before but may have to give some a go.

You have the cutest dog ever - and - he can pose infront of the camara with a bunch of beauty items. You can be proud! :) Hehe
ReplyDeleteVery cute blog btw. <3
Haha- love the last photo with your friends. Looks like a fun girly trip! I've only tried the Aveda Smooth Infusion shampoo but was really impressed- it definitely delivered x
ReplyDeleteYou're hair looks great after travelling! Love your dog
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks pretty good. But then again it usually does. I'm not sure if I would ever spend so much money on Aveda products. I like my Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum. It reduces frizz and is not as expensive. I don't think I would see too much of a difference with using more expensive products.
ReplyDeleteBTW: Your new header looks good. :)
Hi Fleur it was so nice to meet you in Edinburgh and I'm really enjoying your blog. Definitely want to try this range and also what frizz control serum would you recommend? x
ReplyDeleteI am sad to report this line did not hold up as well with my hair. I have naturally curly hair which is notorious for being dry and frizzy. I got samples of the shampoo, conditioner and style prep and like I said, sadly I did not notice a difference.
