Sleek Nude Collection... Close but No Cigar!

I was rather excited to hear that Sleek Makeup were bringing out a nude collection.

Famous for their highly pigmented, super affordable eyeshadow palettes, the Nude Collection palette looked like it was right up my street: a good selection of light to dark, matte and shimmery shadows in their signature sleek case.

But I'm sad to say, the palette had a problem. Almost all of the light colours are so badly pigmented they barely show up. This is something I normally expect from drugstore makeup brands, but it's quite unusual for Sleek.

Having said that... the darker colours are gorgeous and the matte black is great (quite a rare thing, even amongst high end brands!) Its definitely great value for only £6.49 but it could have been so much better!

As for the rest of the collection. It's pretty don't get me wrong, but it's nothing to write home about...

The blush (£4.29) is a pretty natural peach shade that is just a little too brown for my liking.

As for the lip conditioner (£4.29)? Woof loved it!

The aftermath... (Only the boyfriend could prize it out of those jaws!)

*Off I trot to wring her neck!*

Overall, the collection isn't bad, but I was disappointed.

The nude collection is a permanent addition and will be available from 31st August both online and in Superdrug stores.

  5. I think I can live with the light colours being a bit, blah! The darker colours are sunning! I've been looking for this palette but it's sold out in EVERY superdrug in Leeds!... All I've seen is the grubby tester :(

  6. Woof does look very cute in that picture :)
My mother in laws dog Harvey ate one of my new foundations once. I was ever do disappointed because it was the day after I brought it. I forgave him though, all he did was was tilt his head and wag his tail ^_^

I do like Sleek, their Storm palette is brilliant, but those swatches do look disappointing. I do like the lip pout though, that will probably be added to my collection :)

    Thanks for sharing Fleur :)

  11. I wanted to try the palette because I thought the matte light colours looked lovely, but if they don't show up then its not really worth it. Think I will swatch it in a store to see if I really want it! Thanks for the review xxx

  25. Having all their palettes I was sooo looking forward for Sleek to release nude colors. I will have to check it out "alive" anyway, as mostly all very light nude colors tend to be not that pigmented as darker ones... Thanks for the review, Fleur!)

  28. Ohh i was hoping this would be good! The darker colours probably do make it worth it though! x

  29. I found this with the Oh So Special palette too :( I don't think Sleek palettes are as good as they used to be - the permanent ones like Storm and Original have far better pigmentation than any of the newer palettes...xx

  31. What a shame, I was looking forward to this one!

  32. I love sleek palettes though i have to say i'm not too keen on this one :-/

For anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to the naked palette I heard the MUA Heaven & Earth palette is quite good. Though I am yet to try it out.

  36. where do u buy sleek products?? I have been wanting the lip conditioner for so long. my sister is going to london and i wanted to know where i can get it :) thank you

  37. I know I wouldn't use the light colors as much as the bottom row, but wouldn't it be nice if they could just release the bottom row as it's own mini palette? Then it would save the trouble of me feeling like I'd be wasting half of the whole thing!

  38. I really want the eye palette! I think that it will be great for everyday wear xxx

    ReplyDelete
  39. That's a shame about the palette - I'd much rather use lighter colours than the dark ones! xxx

    ReplyDelete
  40. I really don't agree with this! I was sent the same collection and all the colours show up perfectly on me. No different to their other palettes! I'm an NC15 so that may be why.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love the fact that this has some matte colours in it. Despite the pigmentation I will proberbly end up buying this palette as I love sleek eyeshadows. Their Palettes are just so compact and portable I can take lots of different shades out with me whereas my UD Naked palette is slightly too big and bulky to take out in my bag.

  45. you're right. that blush would be pretty but it is a bit too brown for my likings also.

  48. I actually just got the Sleek au naturel palette and I think they changed the formula of the shadows! The first time I swatched it they were still in that texture like yours is and the lighter shades didn't show up (and I'm quite pale), but when I saw it a few weeks ago it had changed up (the shadows don't have the little "bumps" anymore for examply, like yours does, they look like other eyeshadows) and when I swatched them the lighter shades totally show up!!! I bought it last week and love it! It's no comparison to MAC or the Naked palette shadows, but for 10€ I think it was good enough!
