*New* Maybelline Colossal Volum' Cat Eyes Mascara Review

A big fan of Maybelline mascaras, I just couldn't resist picking up the latest addition to their ever expanding collection on my latest trip to Superdrug this week. The new 'Cat Eyes' edition of the wonderful Colossal Volum' mascara claims to give you a more feline look than the original by accentuating the outer lashes.

The packaging looks identical to the original Colossal, with an added little dash of burnt-orange leopard print on the top.
The want is curved, similar to 'The Falsies' design, but slightly smaller, with shorter bristles. The application is nice, and the smaller brush certainly makes it easier to reach those outer lashes (The ginormous brush on the original did make this a little tricky!)
The results are nice too, it's very lengthening and defines the lashes quite nicely.
Before

After
The wear is pretty standard for a Maybelline mascara (and often where they fall down a little in my book!) It does stay on all day but if you have watery eyes, or get caught in the rain... it tends to smudge under the eyes.

Overall, this mascara is good. But it's not great. Try this if you want something new, but if you want the best they have to offer? Stick to 'The Falsies' or the original Colossal Volum'.

Maybelline Colossal Volum' Mascara is available now, priced at £7.99 (but currently £2 off in Superdrug!)

  1. I have the original Maybelline Colossal mascara and I do certainly agree that the BIG brush made it a bit tricky to get even the shorter lashes! Thanks for the amazing review : ) xx

  3. I tried this a couple of weeks ago and sadly it didn't work for me.
It's true that you can get the inner lashes much more easily, but I found there was always way too much product on the wand, so it turned into a clumpy, smudgy mess :-(

Glad you like it though :-)

  4. I'm such a sucker for Maybelline's mascara packaging! The bright colors and fun patterns always suck me in.
But like you said, they make good mascara, not great mascara!
I tend to prefer wands with plastic bristles, they just seem to grab more lashes like the Covergirl Lash Blast.

AAhh, the hunt for the perfect mascara is never ending ;)!

  6. I'm not a massive fan of maybelline but I was tempted to give them another chance, unfortunately I doubt I'd get on with this mascara as my eyes to have a tendency to water x

  13. Maybelline mascaras do the same thing, i don't really see difference between them, I tested most of them, they just don't work for me. I'm huge fan of Rimmel Lash accelerator. xx

  15. How many mascaras does one brand need! It does look very nice on the lashes, perhaps OK for a day time mascara (but maybe not in rainy winter!) but I agree that there are better ones in the range xx

  16. I got this the day it came out, and was a little dissapointed. The 'claw' at the end just gets clumped with mascara and i don't think it really does what is says, other than that it was OK.

  24. I went into Superdrug to buy the Falsies mascara a week ago and did see this one - when I got to the till the woman tried to sell me the Cat Eyes saying it had a 'no clump formula' as all mascaras clump a little I still stuck to the Falsies and I'm glad I did now (:

  33. Hi Fleur,

I bought this mascara yesterday, and i've tried it today, and i have done a little blog on my page (i'm new here). The mascara is lovely, it made my eyelashes appear lovely and long, and no mess or clumps.
