Review: Rimmel Scandal'Eyes Mascara

Sorry for the lack of posts this week girls! I don't know where the first half of the week went... madness! But I'm back in blogging action today with a review of Rimmel's New Scandal'Eyes Mascara.

I was a big fan of Rimmel's last mascara release 'Day 2 Night', so when I saw they had released a new one I thought it would be well worth a try. I was wrong.
The mascara comes in a chunky orange tube. I quite like orange, so don't find this too offensive but if you like your makeup to look sleek and sophisticated you'll definitely find the packaging obnoxious. The brush is HUGE, which makes it a little tricky to apply. Some mascaras with huge brushes are fabulous and well worth the effort it takes to apply them without getting mascara on your eyelids, but when it comes to this one? It's just not worth the hassle.
It gives you average volume, average length, and it's a pain to apply. Not really a winner.
I wouldn't have been quite so critical of this mascara had it not been claiming to 'take your lashes to the next level', leave them 'shaped, plumed and exaggerated to perfection' with 'scadalous eye-opening volume'.

Just compare the results to my L'Oreal Luminizer Million Lashes...
Time to up your game Rimmel!

Rimmel Scandal'Eyes Mascara is out now, priced at £6.99. Would love to know if anyone else has tried this?

  1. I almost picked this up the other day after the orange packaging made me glance towards it as I walked into Superdrug.

After reading three negative reviews, I am glad I didn't.

that brush is huugee! and the packaging is so bulky, no, not for me rimmel.

  9. I tried the Rimmel Max Bold Curves mascara and felt it was a really 'cheap' and ineffective mascara. Ever since then I've been put off buying their mascaras because their revolting lumo packaging is tacky AND the products don't actually work. L'Oreal Volume Millions is the ultimate best x

  14. To be fair, they don't need to come up with any more mascaras, the Sexy Curves is just so good!

  16. Oh I thought this was actually a good mascara for Rimmel, I usually never buy Rimmel products I find them all a bit crap but got this for £4.99 and was moderately impressed!
I do have to put on several layers and often get a blog askew but nothing a cotton bud wont fix. I will defo go back to my fave Bourjois 'clubbers' one though, thats an amazing mascara!

  28. I'm a huge fan of big brushes but cannot stand Rimmel mascaras. I had a few boots vouchers though and ended up getting this for £2.99. The packaging is awful, the mascara itself is even worse. So glad I got it at a super cheap price.

  29. I bought it thinking it might be a cheap alternative to my favourite Max Factor False Lash Effect. I was WRONG! It adds a bit of length and volume, but can NOT hold the curl at all. My lashes only need an eyelash curler, no mascara, and can keep the curl for half the day at least. But this mascara just ended up weighing down my lashes. Only upside: it keeps the lashes soft! (as opposed to Max Factor).
Oh well, good thing it was cheap.

  32. So happy that you did a post on this! Been waiting to hear reviews on this mascara! I was so close to buying it! Thank you Fleur!!

  33. I have looked at this and though of trying it next time I needed another volume one, however after reading all the negative reviews, and seeing the difference. I think I'll be trying L'Oreal Luminizer Million Lashes instead.
Thanks you saved me from wasting my pennies :) x

  34. I bought this from Boots for the £4.98 intro pric, and ive been using it for about a week and it works fine for me, it make my lashes look thick, volumised, and long, and i really like it. But i think it works best if you curl your eyelashes first! x

  35. I actually prefer your lashes in the first photograph!
    Love your blog.x

  37. mmmm yep i must admit the L'oreal one looks much better with a lot more ummph and volume ;0) x

  38. I also hated this mascara, I felt there was always too much product on the brush and the brush its self was massive, which just left me with heavily clumped eyelashes and not very much volume at all!! Although I was also disappointed with the day 2 night mascara.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have this and it clumps all my lashes together so I end up with about four huge eyelashes. Not happy :(

    ReplyDelete
  40. I LOVED this mascara personally. I'm lucky to have naturally long lashes so the brush never leaves mascara on my eyelid, it makes me look as though I have false eyelashes on, especially after 2 coats, LOVE IT!

  41. i bought this in the christmas sales and thought for £4.99 it was a bargain. everyone i've spoken to about this mascara hates it, i seem to be the only person who thinks its good! however, the longer ive had it the clumpier it's getting. im bless with quite naturally long lashes so i dont need a lot but i think this is horrible to layer onto your eyelashes, too clumpy and sticky! definitely have a bit of a split opinion on this one! :S

  42. I absolutely LOVE this mascara, it does wonders for my lashes and i'm on my 3rd tube of it haha

  44. I got this mascara free because I spent 10 quid on Rimmel products at Superdrug. I guess its alright for a freebie. :)

  45. I'm more than satisfied with Scandal Eyes Extreme black mascara... .. I have short lashes ( I think so ) and ith this mascara they're so long and voluminous .. Only one minus of this mascara is the smell, which I don't like :D
