Rave: NARS Cactus Flower

I’ve had my eyes on Cactus Flower from NARS for such a long time (it must be about a year now.) I finally caved in and bought it whilst perusing the NARS counter in Liberty’s a few weeks ago.

It’s a super bright orange-red with a strong gold shimmer that is simply stunning to look at, but I imagine scares many people off at first glance.
As soon as you swatch it, you can see that it’s a lot more wearable than it looks in the pan, giving you a very natural, fresh look with something of a ‘glow’ (thanks to the shimmer!) You can build it up to achieve an intense red, but it is easy to apply a sheer layer for everyday.

The consistency is very much a cream-to-powder formula, so despite being a cream, it can actually feel a tiny bit drying on the skin if you’re prone to dryness but overall… it’s simply stunning.
Left: Blended, Right: Unblended
As always from NARS, the packaging is divine. Yes, it’s gets a little dirty looking after it’s been hanging around in your makeup bag for a while but I still love it.

I’m so happy I finally caved in to this one! I can imagine this will become one of my make up staples of 2012.

  2. The colour looks beautiful and actually, not scary at all :D. I love cream bushes but I can't always make them work so what I do is use them as a base and apply a powder blush on top. It works amazingly well and it also makes my blush last for hours and hours!
I wrote a post about it here for anyone who would be interested

  24. I keep looking at it everytime I hit a Nars counter, but always end up going for more subtle shades... And regret it once I get home.

Maybe it's time for me to finally give it a try!

  32. I saw this on your video with Tanya and went straight to my Sephora that day and bought it! I never do this. I usually take months of going back and forth and telling myself I don't need it before I buy, but nope right off to Sephora and into my basket. (I'm a broke student so this was a terrible idea) I obviously ended up buying more and spent over $120.00 OOPS!
I swatched this in the store and was terrified to buy it, needless to say if you ladies hadn't said it was a must have I would NOT have bought. But I rested my faith in you and have it on my beauty stand!
Thanks for being amazing, love everything you do. THANKS
