YSL Deliciousness: New Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick

Today I wanted to share with you this new deliciousness from YSL. The Rouge Volupte lipsticks are, quite simply, the most beautifully packaged lipsticks out there. I just love the way they look. They currently make their original formula of creamy opaque colours, and a 'sheer candy' version, which is very much like a tinted tip balm.

The latest addition to the line is of course, an 'in-between' product, with less colour pigmentation, but more shine.

Top-Bottom: Sheer Candy, Shine, Original

I was really excited to try this as I find the original formula a little drying, and a little too soft in formulation for it's pigmentation (If you know what I mean? It is dangerously smudgey and you can easily end up with lipstick on your face.)
The colour I have is number 6, a gorgeous fuchsia with blue shimmer. It has the same lovely mango scent all YSL lip products have, is nice and smooth to apply and looks gorgeous on the lips. The colour payoff is sheer, but still 'there' and the finish has a gorgeous shine to it, while remaining totally lightweight.
The only bug-bear I have with this lipstick is the drying factor. Like the original, after a few hours I find it quite dry to wear. I'm not sure if this is just me or a general observation with the YSL Rouge Volupte, as I know they're popular.
Overall, I really like this lipstick... it's almost perfect, but not quite there! What do you think of the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks? If you love the look of these, but would like a more affordable dupe, check out the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks, as they seem very similar in formulation to me.
You can pick the new formulation up now, for £24.00 each.

  1. If just I had a lot of money I'd probably spend them all on pretty lipsticks! I've always loved the packaging for ysl lipsticks.. And if the new line is more like "tinted lip balms" then I'm even more impressed.

  4. These seem pretty great, shame about them feeling dry on the lips but I do find a vast majority of lip products feel like that on my lips after a while. I think it's because I wear some form of lipstick or gloss every single day. I just do what I can in between times and at night with a decent lip balm. You simply can't beat these for packaging though, they're beautiful :D

  5. Such gorgeous packaging but it is a shame about the drying as I hate drying lip products, I tend to go for something much more moisturising.

  7. I just did a post about YSL today too haha! I really love these colours although if they're a bit too drying, I prefer the Rouge Pure shine a little better.

    Great post!

  15. Aww these look so nice and pretty! I'll definitely try them out, the only thing that bothers me is as you said - the dying factor! Hope it's not that bad since I have majorly dry lips! :))

    Lovely post!

  16. Love that the packaging remains the same. I only have number 27 which is gorgeous but I sometimes feel it can be a little drying too. The sheer candy shade looks pretty nice, a bit different to their usual shades.

  20. What a gorgeous colour! From the swatches, it looks like a perfect middle ground between shine and pigmentation which is great because sometimes you want only a little bit of colour to finish off a look without it being too full on! I bet this one goes beautifully with your hair colour and skin tone! I'll have to get myself down to YSL and have a little looky because the other colours look fab too!

  26. This colour is so lovely!! Is the texture as soft as the ysl rouge volupte? If I had extra cash, I would probably splurge again on one of these just for the packaging. I read that this one is soft and not gritty compared to the rouge volupte, is this right?

  59. OMG, the packaging is so luxurious and pretty & the colour range is pretty impressive as well. But what makes me rethink is hearing that they are drying, i struggle to find affordable lipsticks that dont make my lips feel dry and ive been looking around for more higher end options, so reading this helps! :)
