Ciaté X Olivia Palermo - Review & Swatches

The first collection curated by uber-stylish Olivia Palermo for Ciaté launched last week and it's fair to say it's caused quite a wave of excitement in the blogging world.
It's the first mini-collection of four that Olivia is set to launch this year during her role as Guest Creative Director for the brand and although the packaging is simply divine (even better than the Nails Inc X Victoria Beckham offering from 2014 in my opinion!) the colours are as I had expected from Olivia: classic, simple and safe.

There is nothing new here for those of you who are constantly seeking something different or original. Having said that, the three shades she has chosen are all totally gorgeous, wearable and as per usual for Ciaté polishes, the formula is fabulous: thick, opaque, glossy and when used with their new O-Shine Base & Top Coat duo (more on that in another post - it's great!) they stay chip free for about 4 days (probably more if you're not as hands-on as I am).
They are however, significantly more expensive at £17 compared to the normal Ciaté polishes which retail for £9. This is clearly in-part due to the packaging, but they also appear to be a different formula to the standard polishes, with 'Volcanic Glass' to help 'plump' and strengthen the nails and 'Dual Polymer Mesh Lock Technology' to help make the polish last longer and stay glossy (Let's be clear here, I have no idea what or how the aforementioned works... but it's what they claim!) They are also meant to be self-levelling, which I definitely noticed to be true when I was trying them out - they have a super smooth finish.
The three shades are Sunday's - Her 'off duty nude', Hutch - Olivia's 'go to red' and Nantucket - Her 'haute vacation coral'. I've slapped them on quickly to show you the shades below (excuse the messy manicures!)
My personal favourite is Sunday's. It's a strange choice for me as I'm normally a brights girl, especially in the summer, but there is a slight sheer gel-like quality to this polish that I absolutely love. It allows the whiteness of your tips to show through just a tiny amount, so it looks pretty and ladylike, but it's also pale enough to accentuate your tan too!

So all in all, a must have for die-hard Palermo fans, a great choice for a new staple shade if you need one, but missable if you're looking for something new and a little 'out there'. I'm excited to see what else Olivia brings to the table as part of her collaboration with Ciaté... it's fair to say she has great attention to detail when it comes to the packaging especially!

Olivia Palermo's collection for Ciaté is available online (HERE) and in stores now, priced at £17 each.
