If not... the cutesy anime look has gone out the window, along with almost all of their product line. Eyeko decided to 'grow up' and put the emphasis on the 'Eye' in Eyeko, their first launch being in the form of a 'mascara wardrobe'.
If you were familiar with the old Eyeko, I'm sure the mascara will look familiar? That's because it's a re-vamped version of their bestselling 'Big Eyes' mascara.
The mascara is now available with three different brushes: The Skinny Brush (for length) the Curvy Brush (for curl) and the Fat Brush (for volume). All come with a rather gimmicky 'Eyeko Sheild' (for any music buffs out there... it's a plectrum!) to help sheild your eyelids from unwanted mascara.
Skinny Brush, Curvy Brush, Fat Brush
The results given by the different brushes is shown below...
Without Mascara
Skinny Brush
Curvy Brush
Fat Brush
Firstly, I was happy to find that the formulation of the mascara has definitely improved. It's much less 'wet' and more of a standard mascara consistency. The application with the Skinny Brush wasn't easy due to the lack of bristles to help separate the lashes, but the Curvy Brush and Fat Brush were pleasant to apply.
Results-wise, I wasn't impressed with how the Skinny Brush made my lashes look, but the others were surprisingly good in comparison. I was especially impressed with the way the Curvy Brush made my lashes look. The staying power seems to be good, with very little smudging throughout the day. All in all, I'd give the Skinny Brush 4/10, the Fat Brush 6/10 and the Curvy Brush 7/10... Not bad!
Now for the blow. During Eyeko's 'revamp' they have had somewhat of a price jump... from £8.50 to £15. Yes, FIFTEEN pounds! Almost double the price. The mascara is good, but I just can't see myself paying this much for it. I think there are plenty of high street mascaras that perform better for a much lower price, and if I felt like splashing out on a product, I would expect higher quality packaging than this. Sorry Eyeko... I'm not convinced.
The Mascara Wardrobe is being sold exclusively in Harvey Nichols Beauty Hall, and on the Eyeko website.

Its a shame its so pricey because I've always liked this brand but for that money I would rather buy a MAC or Benefit mascara to be honest!

Im so unhappy about the pricing now, its just too high for what quality it is!

There's no way I'd pay £15 for Eyeko mascara. I can't even bear to part with nearly £20 for Benefit's They're Real! Plenty of high street mascaras will do the job for me I don't even wear mascara everyday.
ReplyDeletefat brush looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI want the old Eyeko back! They seemed much better and cheaper too!
ReplyDeletewow that's a big price increase! xx
ReplyDeleteI don't think i would spend £15 on a Eyeko Mascara i loved the cheapness of the products! But i must say the fat brush looks amazing !

ah wow looks well nice :) the packaging reminds me a little of the urban decay primer potion hehe :) x
ReplyDeleteI definitely wouldn't pay that for a drugstore mascara. There are plenty of cheaper ones that I really like and if I was going to spend as much as 15, I'd figure I may as well send a little bit more and get one of my fave higher end ones x
ReplyDeleteThe curvy bush looks great on you!

I can't believe the price jump, i always liked eyeko for the price of their products x
ReplyDeleteI always thought eyeko packaging was really cute, I don't know why they'd completely change it all! x
ReplyDeleteI never got to try the eyeko mascara before the rebrand, i picked up 3 lip pencils in tk max for under £5 back in july and was impressed. I won't pay £15 to try this, doesn't live up to the price.

The packaging looks like something I would pick up at a drug store. Not very impressive.
ReplyDeleteI'm gutted I missed out on their 'big eyes' mascara, but I definitely won't be shelling out £15 for one of their re-vamped ones! Mascara is one of those products which you can get away with not spending a big amount on - the £1.99 Natural Collection waterproof mascara I only bought for a funeral is hands down THE best mascara I've found to hold a curl! Crazy when you think I've spent considerable a lot more on Benefit's Badgal Lash and been sorely disappointed xx
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, the packaging is not what you would expect from a £15 mascara!! Won't be testing this out anytime soon :)

I know you hear this all the time but your eyes are BEAUTIFUL!!!
ReplyDeleteI got excited when I saw the guitar pick shaped blue things on the front, ahaa. Good post Fleur :) Thanks x
ReplyDeleteThe Curvy brush reminds me of the Fairydrops mascara, very interesting...
ReplyDeleteThat price is shockin'!I didnt think 'Big Eyes' was anything special, it was one of those mascaras that stayed at the bottom of my makeup bag untill it dried up and met the bin, waste of money in my eyes and the new versions dont look too promising either.

never tried the eyeko mascara but now that they've doubled the price I'm sure staying away from them... thank you so much for this post LOVE how you demonstrated them all to the point!

Ouch!! I always found their stuff fairly average overall, with a few really great products like the grafitti eyeliners. Absolutely no way I'd pay their new overly inflated prices. Bye bye Eyeko...time to move onto another brand for all my budget buys! x
ReplyDeleteWow, the price change is ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteThe new packaging looks quite nice though, but I did quite like the old one.

£15?! I jumped out of my seat at that price!xx
ReplyDeletei think for people who arent bothered about mascara drugstores have better results for cheaper and if you really wanted to spend a lot for a couple more quid you can get some really high end good mascaras like faux cils and hypnose. im really not convinced and wont be trying them...

i like the last one so much! and love the nail post in your previous post!
ReplyDeleteThe curvy brush looks really interesting! However for £15 :/ I'd rather splash on a Lancome mascara! x
ReplyDeleteThe curvy brush looks really cute.... I might give it a shot!!

The curvy brush looks great - however I wouldn't be prepared to pay £15 for an Eyeko mascara, I loved the magic mascara which was £8 and an excellent mascara for that price. I'm absolutely gutted about the price hike - I'd much rather pay the extra bit of money for a Benefit/Bobbi Brown/Chanel etc. mascara instead xx
ReplyDeleteThe other day I saw the different packaging and didn;t think was accually eyeko, a copy brand! Now I knoww x love ur blog come n see mine Rosellehearts
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the tube so that you can squeeze every single "drop" out of it! Agree, 15 pounds is a too big price jump :/
