If not... the cutesy anime look has gone out the window, along with almost all of their product line. Eyeko decided to 'grow up' and put the emphasis on the 'Eye' in Eyeko, their first launch being in the form of a 'mascara wardrobe'.
The mascara is now available with three different brushes: The Skinny Brush (for length) the Curvy Brush (for curl) and the Fat Brush (for volume). All come with a rather gimmicky 'Eyeko Sheild' (for any music buffs out there... it's a plectrum!) to help sheild your eyelids from unwanted mascara.

Firstly, I was happy to find that the formulation of the mascara has definitely improved. It's much less 'wet' and more of a standard mascara consistency. The application with the Skinny Brush wasn't easy due to the lack of bristles to help separate the lashes, but the Curvy Brush and Fat Brush were pleasant to apply.
Results-wise, I wasn't impressed with how the Skinny Brush made my lashes look, but the others were surprisingly good in comparison. I was especially impressed with the way the Curvy Brush made my lashes look. The staying power seems to be good, with very little smudging throughout the day. All in all, I'd give the Skinny Brush 4/10, the Fat Brush 6/10 and the Curvy Brush 7/10... Not bad!
Now for the blow. During Eyeko's 'revamp' they have had somewhat of a price jump... from £8.50 to £15. Yes, FIFTEEN pounds! Almost double the price. The mascara is good, but I just can't see myself paying this much for it. I think there are plenty of high street mascaras that perform better for a much lower price, and if I felt like splashing out on a product, I would expect higher quality packaging than this. Sorry Eyeko... I'm not convinced.

There's no way I'd pay £15 for Eyeko mascara. I can't even bear to part with nearly £20 for Benefit's They're Real! Plenty of high street mascaras will do the job for me I don't even wear mascara everyday.

ReplyDeleteI never got to try the eyeko mascara before the rebrand, i picked up 3 lip pencils in tk max for under £5 back in july and was impressed. I won't pay £15 to try this, doesn't live up to the price.

ReplyDeleteI'm gutted I missed out on their 'big eyes' mascara, but I definitely won't be shelling out £15 for one of their re-vamped ones! Mascara is one of those products which you can get away with not spending a big amount on - the £1.99 Natural Collection waterproof mascara I only bought for a funeral is hands down THE best mascara I've found to hold a curl! Crazy when you think I've spent considerable a lot more on Benefit's Badgal Lash and been sorely disappointed xx

ReplyDeleteThat price is shockin'!I didnt think 'Big Eyes' was anything special, it was one of those mascaras that stayed at the bottom of my makeup bag untill it dried up and met the bin, waste of money in my eyes and the new versions dont look too promising either.

Ouch!! I always found their stuff fairly average overall, with a few really great products like the grafitti eyeliners. Absolutely no way I'd pay their new overly inflated prices. Bye bye Eyeko...time to move onto another brand for all my budget buys! x

ReplyDeletei think for people who arent bothered about mascara drugstores have better results for cheaper and if you really wanted to spend a lot for a couple more quid you can get some really high end good mascaras like faux cils and hypnose. im really not convinced and wont be trying them...

The curvy brush looks great - however I wouldn't be prepared to pay £15 for an Eyeko mascara, I loved the magic mascara which was £8 and an excellent mascara for that price. I'm absolutely gutted about the price hike - I'd much rather pay the extra bit of money for a Benefit/Bobbi Brown/Chanel etc. mascara instead xx
