I thought I’d show
you four of my favourite holo polishes. Surprisingly enough, they’re actually
all rather different.
The first is
perhaps the hardest to get your hands on… GOSH’s Holographic is the only
‘solid’ holographic polish I own. There are a few on the market (Swedish brand
The Make Up Store make a similar one I believe).
Two coats
Second up is Orly’s
Shine on Crazy Diamond.
Two coats over OPI Ridge Filler
More of a topcoat, the tiny glitter particles in this
polish go on very sheer, but you can layer it up for a more striking effect. I
love this if you’re looking for a more subtle way of wearing holo! I got mine
online at feelunique.com for about £8.
One of the more
recent additions to my holo collection is Barry M’s 244 ‘Hologram Hexograms’. I’m not
actually sure if this is new, or just not stocked in your average Superdrug as
I had never seen it before spotting it last week on Topshop Oxford Circus.
It’s
more if a confetti, with huge hexagonal glitter chunks. Again, the glitter
applies very sheerly but you can build it up. I love this one for parties… It
would be a perfect choice for New Year’s Eve! (£2.99 available online and in some stores)
Last but not least,
the most recent addition to my collection, and my favourite of all the holos
comes in the form of Pop Beauty’s Aquatic Glitz.
Two coats
On a recent trip to
the Pixi boutique in Carnaby Street (Pop is Pixi’s sister-brand) I spotted
Pop’s selection of glitter polishes and was totally blown away. They have a few
variations on this fine holo glitter polish, a slightly pink one, a golden one
and this blue-green variation.
It’s the only holo
glitter that I’ve found which applies almost opaquely in just two coats. But
I’ll let the pictures do the talking…
Beautiful I’m sure
you’ll agree! These are only £6.50 too so if you’re in London I’d recommend
taking a peek (you can also order them online at PopBeauty.co.uk) I’m so in love with
this, the pink version is next on my wish list!
That’s enough
holographic awesomeness for one day I think… would love to hear any of your
recommendations for more holographic polishes to add to my collection though!

ReplyDeleteLove the last two! I've never seen that Barry M one anywhere. Im sure Nails inc has a holographic top coat that's suppose to be quite good.

This is my favourite holo:
ReplyDeletehttp://kosmetyczny-kuferek-burn.blogspot.com/2011/04/notd-colour-alike-szara-migotka.html
It has micro holo glitter in a gray base.Dosen't look good with my skin tone but I love it anyways :)
The last one is amazing!!!!! Now, I want to go to England to get this nailpolish! :-)
ReplyDeleteI own Barry M Pink Iridescent and it looks amazing over black nail polish (and loads of other colours)
ReplyDeleteI really like the POP one, think I'll have to hunt this down! x
ReplyDeleteI love the OPI one. Forgotten what it's called. My mum has it, and it looks stunning over a Zoya matt dark dark grey or Inkwell by CND. Makes it look like you have space nails. How sheer is the GOSH one...would it be possible to achieve the same effect?
ReplyDeleteFleur, you've just initiated my love for holo polishes

Glitter Gal do amazing holographic polishes, but it's an Australian brand (I think!)so the cost/shipping is quite high. Nubar released the Prism Collection quite a while back. I have Spark, Gem and Treasure - perfect if you want a coloured holographic polish. Last but not least, OPI My Private Jet. I love this one for a dark polish with a hint of holo magic!!
ReplyDeleteGosh is totally amazing!
ReplyDeleteGOSH's Holographic infuriates me! Application takes 4 or 5 coats (and the last 3 are blobbing on polish into the missing patches) necause it does not go on evenly at all. Do I just have a dodgy bottle? Haha. But the final effect is incredible, and worth the frustration haha! Desperate to try the POP range :)x
ReplyDeleteThe last one looks amazing!

ReplyDeleteI really like the orly and barry m one's! x
ReplyDeleteToday I spent my No7 voucher on a very similar polish to the GOSH one except it's pink. I am in love!! It's so strong with only one coat too but of course I just have to apply two!
ReplyDeleteLove the pop polish here - never heard of that brand before!
x
The're all lovely, but I like the gosh one the best :)

ReplyDeleteHi Fleur!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently loving the Glitter Gal 3D/holographic in Green, it's about the same as the GOSH one but it's kinda expensive for the amount you get. However, it's really good quality and doesn't chip on me with Seche Vite :)
