I was a little intrigued by the new Impress press-on manicure line though. They've had quite a lot of attention since their launch, especially since they've got Nicole Scherzinger on board for their advertising campaign.
These nails are much thinner and not necessarily longer than your natural nail (I ended up filing them down slightly to match my natural nail length perfectly). They take just a few minutes to apply and there's no waiting around for them to dry. The main selling-point for me was that there is no nail glue involved, they have adhesive already applied to the back of the nail so you just pop them on.
I was a little sceptical about this method, as I've tried something like this way back when I was about 12 and the first one fell off after just a few hours, but I thought that they must have improved them since then so decided to give them a whirl...
I totally fell in love with this pattern 'Lovestruck', despite being a little uncertain about whether or not it was a little tacky for my taste, I decided to go for it and give them a try!
After application I have to say I quite like them. I'm not 100% sure I would wear them regularly. To me they do look a little too fake, but if you're looking for a cute, fun pattern for summer time, I really like the set I chose.
I'd estimate max wear time for these would be about a week, with a few replacements here and there. I decided to take mine off after 4 1/2 days. Surprisingly, not one fell off of it's own accord. Even if it did, they give you lots of spares so if you lose one you can simply pop another on!
When it came to taking them off (the part I was dreading!) they were actually a dream to remove. I didn't even have to soak them in nail polish for a few seconds as the packet suggested. I simply peeled them off. They didn't appear to leave my natural nails damaged in the slightest (especially when compare to glue-on falsies!)
They aren't cheap at £7.99 for the plain designs and £8.99 for the patterns, but they are certainly fun for a holiday treat, or if you are short on time. I will definitely be trying these again. You can pick them up in Boots, or online here.
I've seen these in Boots for a while and have always wanted to try them out, may purchase some next time I take a trip there. Love that they were thinner than usual fake nails and that they're easy to remove. Great post Fleur! x
ReplyDeleteI have never worn fake nails but love nail art despite being rubbish are doing it so this might be an option. Lovely post - thank you x
ReplyDeleteThese sound really good. I too was a little skeptical after seeing them advertised, because I remember the ones which were around in the 90's when I was a kid that always fell off, almost instantly! It's good to hear that these have some lasting power! I really like the design, good choice :) xo
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I'm going to a party at the weekend and was undecided if I wanted to spend 7.99 on the nails but after reading this I'll defo be giving them a go! :) xxx
ReplyDeletelove this design! perfect for summer! so tempted to try these out!xo
ReplyDeleteeeevc.blogspot.com
Oh wow, these look amazing! The pattern looks so nice and summery and from the pics- they don't look false at all!
ReplyDeleteThey wouldn't be something I'd normally pick up, but after seeing yours, I may have to consider!
xo

I love the pattern, the colours are so summery! I'm not a huge fan of fake nails, I'm sure a printed nail wrap would give a similar effect though :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what they are like in the swimming pool or on the beach!? Great review...
ReplyDeleteI saw you wearing these in one of your videos! I couldn't even tell that they were the fake nails! I may just pick up a pair to test them out! :)
ReplyDeletefauxguru.blogspot.com
I might need to try them again! I was sent a package for free to try and they fell off the first day I had them! like in a few hours! and I wasn't even doing anything crazy with my hands. Maybe I just had a bad pack! I'll need to try them again!
ReplyDeleteThese look really nice, such a pretty pattern! I saw them advertised but thought they would be like the ones I tried when I was younger, but I rthink I might try these now :) Becky x

I love the pattern of these! We have a few similar products available in Australia, but none of the patterns are as adorable as this! These would definitely be perfect for summer! :)

These are so cute! I would probably be too scared to wear all of them at once - would love to try them on my ring finger with the rest of my nails a different color :)
ReplyDeletehttp://alittlebitofthis04.blogspot.com
Really cute :) I have another pattern on my nails but I have not used them yet, but I will soon.
ReplyDeletehttp://glambymatilda.blogspot.se
They look great, beautiful pattern
ReplyDeleteThese are such a good alternative to false nails. I also used to get acrylics but they completely wrecked my nails. If these cause no damage at all I think I might be tempted, especially for the summer! :) xx
ReplyDeletejensbrightandbeautiful.blogspot.com
I think they're awful. I applied mine and in the course of washing up and washing my hair most flicked off and the remaining that were left, that design started to peal off.
ReplyDeleteI bought a few of these sets at my work's sample sale for mega cheap. I think they're great to pop on for the odd event but for me, the shape didn't fit flush to my nail, so it started gathering dirt beneath the stuck on nail and mine, like falsies do, and they felt a bit icky. Easy to take off though, I agree.

They look great! I was put off by the fact that I thought they would ruin my nails but after reading your review I definitely want to try these now! xx
ReplyDeleteBeauty by Emma
I am shocked they didn't come off. I used to own something similar when I was younger and I remember losing the first one a few minutes after the application:)
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean about the pattern going either way but I think these look cute and fun for summer. After having a useless experience with most DIY nail wraps, I might give these a go as they seem slightly thicker.
ReplyDeleteI haven't try it but I think I am going to try it after this. Looks interesting! :D
ReplyDeletebacktofive.blogspot.com
Haven't tried them yet but they sound really good! xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pattern, I've seen a floral design in Boots of the nails that I really want to try out :) lovely post xxx
ReplyDeletehttp://belle-amiebeauty.blogspot.co.uk/
I gave these a try when they first came out and I didn't have any luck with them at all, mine fell off on their own within an hour. I also found my own nails were longer then the fake ones and I don't even have long nails, personally if I'm going to wear false nails I would like them to be longer then my own nails are but these are good for those who like short nails, I guess. Maybe I just did something wrong and they're not as bad as I have made them out to be, especially seeing they worked for you, did you do anything special well applying them? That design is quite cute though, but I think I'd rather just get acrylic nails then try these again, they were too child like and cheap in my opinion to be advertised for adults.

I love the pattern of these! I got a pack with a beauty box a while ago but wasnt too impressed, i had a couple fall of within the first few hours and they did look a bit fake too! x
ReplyDeletethese look so awesome! love it!

Oh, those are super cute!
ReplyDeleteMy friend and I just started up our own youtube channel :) http://www.youtube.com/user/TheJasmineTara
We are from Australia and it would be great if you could check it out! xo
I've been wanting to try these for ages, i think i might get a set for a special occasion because there a tad expensive otherwise! xo
ReplyDeletehttp://prettypetticoats.blogspot.co.uk/
I really liked some of the patterns for these but unfortunately I found that they are too short for my nails. For almost the same price, I think nail strips are a better bet for me if I want patterns.
ReplyDeleteI tried them around Christmas time this past year, and they did last a whole week for me, which was awesome! And the removal for me was the same, no pain, no harm done.
ReplyDeleteHi Fleur, little award for you http://imeowthis.blogspot.ro/2012/06/awards-tag.html :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried press-on nails before, but the ones you chose are really sweet :)
ReplyDeletehttp://cofcorals.blogspot.ca/
I think you may have tempted me to try these out, the idea of proper fake nails have never appealed to me as my nails are pretty dry as it is. I've just started a beauty blog of my own, if you get a chance I would love it if you could check it out!
ReplyDeletehttp://totallynavi.blogspot.co.uk/
i've never tried acriylic nails because of the whole damaging-nail thing, but i think i'll buy one or two pairs of these for my holiday so i dont have to take nail polish with me!

I tried these in the regular french tip version. I really hated them. They really did look too fake and some of them didn't adhere to my nail at the very tip of it. There was a separation there. I literally took them off after a day :/
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing <3

Honestly... I think the pattern does border a little on tacky and cute like you said, but only because they look very plastic-y... :P
