Review: Chantecaille Just Skin

I've had the Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturiser for a few months now, so I thought it was about time I posted a full review here on my blog.

Now, to start off with, the most important factor to tell you about this product is the price. It's ridiculously expensive. Chantecaille is one of the most premium makeup brands on the market at the moment and they have price tags to match. I um-ed and ah-ed about purchasing this for a while and I finally caved, despite the £55 price tag (mainly due to peer pressure from a certain Tanya Burr!). It's the only product I own from Chantecaille and my expectations were high... so was it worth the money?

Annoyingly, I have to say... I just can't make my mind up!

The product is undeniably lovely. It's a fantastic, thick consistency and provides sheer coverage with a fresh skin-like (hence the name!) finish. It's a wonderful product for summer (with SPF 15) and I like to use it in conjunction with my Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer for a natural, yet flawless look. The staying power is good for a tinted moisturiser, about 5-6 hours before it starts to disappear on the skin.

Overall this is a lovely product however I do think there are equally as nice alternatives out there for significantly less money. I'm thinking of YSL Teint Touche Eclat, Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser and NARS' tinted moisturiser to name just a few. All of these are still high-end luxury brands, but around half the price of the Chantecaille option. It is for that reason that, while I will finish this product and thoroughly enjoy it, I don't think I'll be repurchasing it when I run out.

So there it is ladies... a confusing review I'm sorry! I am slightly sitting on the fence with this one.

What do you think? Have you tried Just Skin, or any other Chantecaille products? Do you think they are worth the money?

You can get Chantecaille Just Skin from SpaceNK, priced at £55 for 30ml.

  1. I wouldn't ever buy a tinted moisturizer that expensive. In summer I stick to my Invisible Zinc tinted moisturizer, it's the same that Georgia May Jagger uses :) x

  3. I don't think I could pay £55 for one product! I'd much rather buy the new YSL foundation or the NARS tinted moisturiser x

  4. I really want to try this just because of how much Tanya loves it! It costs over $100 in Australia and my Rimmel Wake Me Up is suiting me just fine for now...

    I'm so torn over this!

  7. I've heard loads about this but at £55 it's out of my price range at the minute, will give the YSL a go though I think! x

  8. This is too expensive, a budget option is to mix foundation with your favourite SPF moisturiser.

  10. I'm currently using Stila oil free tinted moisturiser which has SPF 30 and at £3.50 Not only is it a bargain but it gives brilliant sheer coverage, but adds a tint to skin.. Its an ideal base to oil free foundation, as no oil breaks through.. making my make up last the day.

  11. I think the price is just too much for me to ever justify buying it. It just feels very expensive and like you said there are other premium brands still cheaper. Nice review though

  14. Fleur, have you tried the Chantecaille Future Skin Gel Foundation? It's absolutely gorgeous and well worth the price tag which, in Australia, is $105. I love it - it's on a par with Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation which is my favourite.

  15. It sounds and looks great but I just can't afford something like that! I don't wear an awful lot of tinted moustrisers but I probably should start as I hear they are better for your skin.

  16. I wouldnt buy such expensive tinted moisturizer :( but i do think u can find similar or better alternatives. I think the Bobby Brown BB cream is quite good, and it is light also. It feels just like ur second skin. I dont own it right now cuz i have one BB cream I got from Hong Kong, i forgot the name cuz it s korean. But its great. But I ll definitely buy one Bobby Brown BB cream next time!

  22. I'm sticking to my beloved Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser thanks! In Australia, the Chantecaille cream blush is $80 (around 52 pounds in the UK) - so I'll hate to think how much this tinted moisturiser would cost.

  23. A little hefty for a tinted moisturizer! Thanks for the review, though. :)

  27. Thanks for the review :) I think I'll give this one a pass if there's other good ones out there. And this one's really expensive. I'll try the NARS or YSL one. Ha. What do you think about the You Rebel one by Benefit? People rave about it as well..but I still haven't tried it. I'm scared it'll make me break out x

  28. Not sure I'd be able to justify the price, like you said. Thanks for the honest review :)

  35. Nothing that you put on for a day and take off at night repeatedly is worth that kind of money, there's equally good products out there that don't cost the earth!

  37. I don't think I could ever bring myself to pay so much, I can't see how anything could be worth that money!! I thought Chanel foundations were bad enough!

  38. Quick note - Just Skin costs $64 USD on their US website, as well as at most major department stores (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Barney's, etc). That's about £41. Not quite sure why there's the difference - I really don't think shipping can account for that big of a hike up.

  41. I have never tried anything from Chantecaille, but I so wish I could! They seem to have such lovely, lovely products. This tinted moisturiser in particular though, like you say, is very expensive and is rather too pricey for me at the moment, but for now I can always dream :)

  44. Wow, that's quite expensive! Isn't £55 somewhere around $85?! I may be way off on my math here. But it's surprising because here at Nordstrom this is $64...which is still pricey, but it's no $85! If you do like it, you should stock up next time you're in the US!

  45. I have Just Skin in Bliss and am really liking it! I received it in a makeup swap, however, so it's possible that I wouldn't feel so good about it if I had paid full price! And I agree that the new NARS TM is another great option, for half the price. But it is still fun to splurge and feel luxurious once in a while :)
