A couple of weeks ago the lovely people at Nivea asked me to film some videos with them about their new 'Express Hydration' primer.
If you haven't heard about the primer yet, it's really quite a neat little product. It's a two-in-one product that moisturises the skin and primes it for makeup application too. I must admit when I first heard about it I was sceptical, as I like using both a moisturiser and a primer for different reasons, so was a little unsure about making it a one-step process. Once I tried the product however, I absolutely loved it. It's a really unique texture, almost like a gel.
It feels very cooling, and leaves your skin feeling smooth and fresh. It is silicone based, but doesn't have that typical 'silicone' texture that is common with primers.
The only other primer that I've come across with a similar texture is the Laura Mercier one (which is about 10x the price!).
They have two different variants, one for normal-combination skin and one for dry-sensitive.
I went for the latter and it worked really well on my skin. This type of product is great for me, as I tend to suffer from my skin looking dry towards the end of the day, rather than my makeup sliding off, or my skin becoming oily. The extra boost of moisture really helped my foundation to stay put for longer. It's definitely something I'd recommend for girls-on-the-go as it will save you time in the morning! It's also very affordable too, at £3.99 for 50ml.

This looks really good, and great value for money. I have oily skin though, do you think 'Normal/Combination' type would be alright, or should I stick to specific moisturisers/primers for oily skin?

If you once again write "this is not sponsored video" under your videos I am seriuosly going to stop watch your videos. This IS sponsored video as you promote one of many brands available on the market. I am curious if you really use any of these Nivea products as you NEVER EVER mentioned about them in you videos
ReplyDeleteIf a video is ever sponsored, I always disclose it (Although it is incredibly rare that I accept sponsored videos on my YouTube channel) These videos are not posted on to my channel, only here, where I have disclosed that... under the videos.
Deleteand if anyone on youtube ask again what do you do for living PLEASE be honest and say that you work in advertising
ReplyDeleteBut it says "*This is a sponsored post"... ?! So she's honest about it and everyone knows she makes a living out of this, which she deserves as she puts a lot of time in blogging and making videos.
Deleteooo this looks really interesting. I might have to give it a go (:

I wonder how this will work on acne-prone skin. Unfortunately I tend to break out of products that are silicone based :S

Hi there, there is a sample of this primer 1.5 ml in a December issue of Glamour ( I
ReplyDeleteget my magazine before its in shops as I am a subscriber :-) )
I really don't understand why some people get so mad at you? Advertising, PR, being a makeup guru or whatever the title is, is none of their business and if they don't like you they don't have to watch! On the other hand, one must be quite silly to not understand if a vid of yours is either advertorial or just a random vid that you put it on Youtube. Because if it's an ad, it is totally obvious!! As soon as I started to watch it, I noticed that you were much formal, proper and umm, kinda...fake:) Sorry if I said something negative but it is true and it is totally normal! You're on camera girl!! You have to be a slightly more different than your normal self, just like Marily Monroe:) haha...
ReplyDeleteLove and all the best:))
Well, I think I understand the complaint a bit... we read blogs and watch YouTube videos to hear an honest opinion on products. Once the blog post or video becomes sponsored that defeats the purpose as it becomes just an advert like any other we see on TV. As someone who works with Marketing, I know that adverts can be deceiving so I don't trust them. Fleur was honest in a way that she said it was a sponsored post so it's all good. She's just doing her honest job. It's more than alright for her to do advertising. But I for one only like/trust non sponsored posts. And I'm sorry but I agree with someone who said here that she never ever mentioned this product in her "non sponsored" videos, so there we go. :)
DeleteYou used to be able to go to Nivea's website and request a free sample. Best way to tell whether you like it or not, before impulse buying.

ReplyDeleteThanks for reviewing this - I bought the one for sensitive skin and love the texture. It's not enough for me in its own but on top of my kiehls moisturiser it gives a lovely matt finish on which to do my make up. Looking forward to more reviews! X
ReplyDeletei wonder why nobody says that this moisturising(!) cream contains 4%(!!!) of Alcohol Denaturat! Besides it might cause allergy and it is pretty comedogenic! Girls. please be careful with it... maybe it's better use Nivea's pure and nature cream than this one....
