3 of The Best: Beauty Waters

Beauty waters or 'facial mists' have exploded in popularity over the past few years. They are one of those products that doesn't 'do' a very specific task, yet something about them (or the good ones, at least!) makes a lovely addition to your skincare routine, and one which I am very reluctant to give up.

They aren't cheap, they aren't essential, but they are lovely. Here are three of my favourite's:

1. Caudalie's 'Eau de Beaute' Beauty Elixir

I think it all started with Caudalie's Beauty Elixir. This little bottle of goodness has become something of a cult beauty product over the last two years. Caudalie hail it as 'a treatment that smooths away fine lines, tightens pores and gives the complexion an instant boost of radiance.' It contains grape, rosemary and peppermint oil, that help fight acne and have anti-ageing properties. The scent is really lovely; herbal and slightly minty, it is very calming and has a slight cooling effect on the skin. £28.80 for 100ml (£29p per ml)

2. Balance Me's Skin Bright Hydrating Face Mist

My second favourite is Balance Me's brand new Skin Bright Hydrating Face Mist. This has more of a focus on hydration and radiance rather than anti-ageing and acne prevention, with hylauronic acid, pineapple water and rose flower water. The scent is much more fruity and fresh than the Caudalie, with the rose and pineapple really coming through. What makes this beauty water stand out from others is the spray. Caudalie's Beauty Elixir has a nice, fine mist but this spray is better than any other I've tried. It produces a super fine, light mist. Oh, and it's 99% natural too. Always a bonus! £20 for 60ml (33p per ml)

3. Ren's Tonic Moisture Mist

This was an impulse airport-buy before I got on a flight to LA last year. I had forgotten my beloved Caudalie Elixir, and spotted this in duty free. I love Ren skincare, they are yet to disappoint me with any product that I've tried to date so I had high hopes for this formula. I think this is a better choice for those with sensitive skin, as it isn't so highly perfumed. I find it to be the most moisturising out of the bunch, also containing hylauronic acid. It is also formulated with Fig extracts to help cool and refresh the skin, and Ginseng to help boost energy and decongest your skin. The only problem with this product is the spray. Unlike the beautifully fine mist that Balance Me emits, this spray is a lot less gentle than the others. You have to spray it from a little further away to avoid squirting yourself in the eye! £18 for 50ml (36p per ml)

Top Tips for using your beauty water:
- Keep it in the fridge to keep it cool and extra refreshing!
- Take it on flights with you to fight the effects of drying air-conditioning and keep your skin looking fresh
- Use it as a moisturising toner in the morning and evening
- Spray over makeup in place of powder if you have dry skin
- Spray throughout the day to refresh your face and makeup

Overall, I think Caudalie remains my favourite (and actually the cheapest per ml when you buy the bigger size!) and a product which I have purchased (and will continue to repurchase) over and over again

Do you use a facial mist? What's your favourite?

  1. I really like Caudalie's beauty elixir, I used it when I've put foundation on (that's not very often), because it makes it looks more natural and less "cakey", haha.

    Like this post! :)

  4. I love the scent of the Caudalie Beauty Elxir but I've personally never seen any skincare benefits from using it. I'd love the try the Balance Me facial mist and compare the two, the scent sounds heavenly too.

  6. Whilst I loved the scent and feeling on my skin of the Caudalie Beauty elixir, I didnt feel like I saw much of a difference in my skin even after finishing the whole large size bottle! Might give the Balance Me Beauty one a go if its aimed more for hydration. Great post Fleur!

  7. I wonder is there a huge difference between these and toners? I thought this was a great review, but these products are unfortunately something I wouldn't have the money to spend on if they didn't make a significant difference to my skincare routine. They look nice though and I'd say they would be handy enough for someone like me who has dry skin and wanted to freshen up their face.

Please follow my blog girlies! I would really appreciate it as I don't have that many followers yet but I post often :P

  8. I smelt the Caudalie Beauty Elixir the other day because I've been so intrigued after hearing people say it was the weirdest smell ever! It wasn't that bad but it is quite strange! I do like the idea of these beauty waters to be used as a makeup refresher but the price puts me off :(

  18. I've only ever tried one beauty mist before, and it was an impulse buy from a drugstore! Haha, needless to say it wasn't the most incredible product I've ever tried. I would definitely love to try any one of the three you mentioned though! They sound divine :)

  19. I am using the Caudalie Beauty Elixir right now, and I like it. I don't use it every day, just mainly on the days that my skin looks a little more red or I have more break outs. It's very refreshing. I would love to try the REN mist! REN has recently become my newest skincare love, and I am willing to try any of their products. They have yet to disappoint me!

  20. I've never tried beauty mists before, but I do suffer with dry skin in the winter, so maybe these would be the perfect pick me ups for my skin during the day?
