Topshop have decided to take us all back to our pre-teens with the launch of their new peel-off nail polish collection. The four shades of peel-off polish include a Navy, Lilac, Cobalt, and this bright pink.
It feels a little more rubbery than conventional polish, both during application and when dry. You can definitely tell by the finish that it's not a normal polish, and it feels kind of sticky even when dry.
In terms of removal, it couldn't be easier. Each nail peels off in one piece. This might be one for those girls who like to change their nail colour on a daily basis... but for me? I just don't 'get' it. I'm really not a fan of the look or feel of this polish on my nails, nor the concept in general really.
What do you think about peel-off nail polish? A huge time saver, or should it be reserved for the kids? If you fancy giving these a try, you can pick them up from Topshop now, for £6 each.
Interesting concept but I don't think I'll be picking these up anytime soon!

I agree with you I don't like these either,I don't understand them at all.

I've never tried any kind of peel off polish, do they dent easier?
ReplyDeleteMight be convenient for travelling!
http://andini-ria.blogspot.com
I suppose if these were glitter nail varnishes it would make the arduous task of getting glitter nail varnishes off a lot easier, maybe that's where they should go from here? :/ Though I currently can't see the appeal either!
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree, glitter polish is where they should be using this, but not a plain polish :)
DeleteI agree, I think it's a bit of a strange idea. Don't think I'll be picking these ones up- I don't really understand the point.
ReplyDeletehttp://anna-blush.blogspot.com
It just reminds me of those crappy nail varnishes I used to have when I was little that chipped and came off whole in about 1 hour!! I guess it is handy for people who like to match nails with their daily outfits, but I still think it would be so easy for them to peel off during the day! Don't think they're my cup of tea but it is an interesting idea! :)
ReplyDeletexxx
http://eleanorcos.blogspot.com/
I'm actually very tempted as but the texture sounds a concern :( xx
ReplyDeletedo you think peeling the colour off damages them at all?
ReplyDeleteI Guess its a good idea, but I actually cringe if I try and peel of my nail varnish so I will be giving this one a miss. x
ReplyDeletewhatsonyourtulips.blogspot.co.uk
I don't get it either... people are usually most interested in making their nail polish last as long as possible so I'd worry than the peel-ability would make them chip/peel easily...not my kind of thing to be honest! xx
ReplyDeleteI don't get them either, surely they chip quicker? I thought the idea of nail varnish was to make it last the longest possible without peeling. And it's easier to wipe away the nail varnish onto one cotton pad than to have bits of nail varnish peel to throw away. definitely cute ideas for kids though!
ReplyDeletekatieclarkemakeup.blogspot.com
Hm I kind of like the idea of being able to take them off so easily, but I don't really like the way they look.
ReplyDeleteInteresting though!

The above is two coats :)
DeleteNot too sure how to feel about these nail varnishes - I think the peeling off would make me feel like I'm damaging the nail underneath? And I don't like the idea of them being a bit sticky when dry. Hmm. A bit of a gimmick, I think!
ReplyDeleteEve & Faye x
I think it's AWESOME. We don't have top shop here, but other brands like Essence did a peel off base coat which I absolutely love. It allows super easy removal of glitter polish and allows you to remove your polish without having to use any harsh removers :)
ReplyDeletesame here. can't believe everyone here is anti
DeleteI'd definitely get these as I tend to peel my nail varnish off anyway and it's damaged my nails so badly. At least this way it wouldn't peel bits of nail off too!
ReplyDeleteDaure @ The Nook
I, personally, think this is best for those with sensitive skin and nails who don't like having to use acetone to remove their polish. But in general, I don't like the fact that this can come off so easily! What's the point in that? I want my polish to last as long as possible, not to start chipping within a few days.
ReplyDeleteLike someone pointed out, this reminds me of those 'play nail polishes' you used as a kid that dried to an almost thick, rubbery texture and which you could also peel off really easily.
I don't ever remember having peel of nails as a child! I clearly was missing out!!

I'm not sure if these appeal to me. I quite enjoy the regular process of removing nail polish and the texture sounds weird.
ReplyDeleteSophierosehearts x
I think this is great for those who aren't allowed to wear nail polish at school and can just simply peel them off? Or for those who are too lazy to use nail polish remover... For me, I would probably try it once for the novelty and never again.
ReplyDeletedreamdustx
i love the colour and i can imagine it being really satisfying but i don't like the sound of the texture:\
ReplyDeletehttp://therawrdrobe.blogspot.co.uk/
I think I'd be tempted to peel them off all the time and my nails would never look tidy again! x
ReplyDeletehttp://glossytemptations.blogspot.co.uk
I don't recall these lasting very long on my nails when I was a kid, let alone these days! I might pick one up just out of curiosity though.
ReplyDeletewww.gleepface.com
I think I'll leave this one in my childhood to be honest! I find that if I put too many layers of normal nail polish on it generally just peels off but it leaves my nails really dry and feeling worn out! Perhaps these would be different as they're designed to peel off but I'm not really feeling it. It would be useful for glitter polish as it's such a pain to remove but otherwise I think I'll just stick to good old nail varnish remover!

My mum used to love these when I was little, and was kind of sad when they stopped making them. So with that in mind I might have to give these a go..

You can get the same effect by using PVA as a base. I don't really see the point of only wearing a nail colour for one day if you've sat and made the effort to do them nicely.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try one to see how I feel about the look and feel of it on my nails but I personally think this is a brilliant idea because I find taking my nail varnish off so boring!
ReplyDeleteLouisa's Notebook
I think they're good for those who, like you said, are travelling or change their nails on a daily basis. I don't know, I've never tried these. Might give them a go though :)
ReplyDeleteAmylaurenblog.blogspot
I really love the colour of this but I agree that I don't get the concept either. Why would you want to apply nail polish just to pick it off straight away? I like my manicure to last! x
ReplyDeletethey might work really well under a glitter polish - would make it a lot easier to get it off I suppose..

I never could understand this concept, too useless for me, but nice colours though)
ReplyDeleteI used to buy this stuff when I was younger just because I loved the whole concept of peeling it off, but now I honestly don't understand why you would use this as it would come off so easily!
ReplyDeletechloeopinions.blogspot.com

ReplyDeletedolcebeautyx.blogspot.com.au
This seems really strange to me, and I don't think I will ever buy this kind of polish. Though it might be a good idea, since I'm one of those who rarely wear the same colours for more than maximum two days..
ReplyDeleteThese would be a fun loot bag treat for little girls, I think. Not for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to love these when I was a child, but now I don't think that I would wear it. Unless they did it for glitter polishes, that would be great! xxx

As a general rule I can usually manage to peel my nail polish off if I really wanted to so I don't really see the point of a nail polish that is advertised in this way. You can do it with nearly all nail polishes, a bit too gimmicky for me.
ReplyDeleteHannah www.cagneyandlace.com
I hate using nail varnish remover but to bring out just 4 colours seems a little pointless xxx
ReplyDeleteIts a good idea, but i really hate it when nail polish is claggy or rubbery and if its sticky even when dry, then i dont see the success of it for older teenagers and adults, but for kids and pre-teens i think its a great idea!
ReplyDeleteunconventionalstory.blogspot.com.au
It sounds a bit questionable because my only experience with peel off nail polish was from my childhood and it was very cheap stuff made to play with.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely try it once, though, to see how it works in my adult life.
http://highfivemebrother.blogspot.com/
oh i know these, they always peeled off when i washed my hair or took a long bath or did the washing up manually, in the past. "great" product.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure how I feel about these! I'm a regular nail polish-er, but i'm not sure I want to go back to my childhood play makeup days! xx

I think the idea is great but for me it just wouldn't work as it pick it off absent mindedly almost as soon as it had dried!
ReplyDeleteAmy | The Little Koala
haha it brought me back to my childhood :) but i think they are appopiate for just a night out, an important evening event or something important that appear at the last minute su you opt for this nail polish to look more put together at the moment and dont have to worry to make time for a super perfect manicure; or to try out how certain color look on your skin tone :) I don´t know, that is just my opinion haha
ReplyDeleteI find the concept of this a little odd, but I read a good use for it somewhere. They used it as a base coat for glitter nail polishes, which makes it much easier to take off. I always have such a tough time taking glitter nail polishes off so this seems like a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI've never used this, or even heard of it! I peel my nail polish off anyway, and this stuff would just make me want to do it more. Weird!
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree- I don't really see the point! Which is better for your nails though peel off or a remover? xx
ReplyDeleteI'd be wayy too tempted to peel it off throughout the day. Peeling things is addictive in that I-Must-Burst-This-Bubble-Wrap kinda way :)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of pealing it off, it sounds quite satisfying, probably just me that likes that! :/ but I tend to chip my nail polish easily, it'd probably all come off within a few minutes :)

I don't really understand the peel off nail polish. It reminds me of the polish I was given in my princess pack as a kid. I can't imagine that this stuff would last for too long either. If you can just peel it off what is preventing it from being rubbed right of my fingers during the day?
ReplyDelete-Emily
Really interesting and can see why, but I can't imagine it lasting for long. Not for me though.

ReplyDeleteI think I'd be open to the idea of trying them, purely because I get bored so easily, my normal nail polishes usually lasts a day before I peel them all off so this could be intriguing...

ReplyDeleteThis would actually be a top seller in Muslim countries. Here (I live in Kuwait) the girls only wear nail polish during that time of the month. Other times (when they pray), their nails have to be clean and free of nail polish and so I'm guessing this would really sell here really well. The polish can just be pulled off during prayer time instead of running for a remover. Would be easy to wear during parties I guess. (Don't take this as the exact law here.. lol.. just writing down what I've noticed my friends and colleagues do.. )
ReplyDeletelovely blog
ReplyDeletethis sounds so interesting, it would be so much easier and less time consuming to take off. They should make these for glitter nail polishes!
ReplyDeleteI think they sound like a great idea, especially if you're one for changing your nail varnish daily. But I think cheaper brands like Barry M will probably copy it. :)
ReplyDeleteIm a massive nail polish geek and I change my nails pretty much each night. Im definitely going to have a look at these, especially the one your wearing and pick one up!
ReplyDeletewill the chip more easily then?
ReplyDeleteI'm not one for painting my nails regularly so I leave nail varnish on for ages untill it's really chipped. How long do you think it would last? I suppose as soon as it starts chipping you could just peel it off easily, even if you're at work or school and not bother with nail varnish remover. It's actually quite a good idea, but it would have to be pretty good quality stuff for it to work properly. Thanks for your honest opinion Fleur! xxx

I totally agree these nail varnishes are awful. I'd had mine on for a measly hour before the whole nail had peeled off just because I'd reached into my bag. Such a waste of £6.
