I picked this polish up a couple of weeks ago and thought I would do a little review for you all on here... I don't normally do nail polish 'reviews' as such, they are usually just 'Nail of the Day' type features (meaning that I usually like the products, and am simply showing me wearing them, along with a mini review)
This time is a little different though, as I was left really unimpressed by this polish. It's Barry M's Textured Nail Paint in 'Kingsland Road' - a lovely baby pink in the bottle, I was excited to try the new textured formulation, but when on the nails it honestly just looks like your polish has bubbled up, or you've got sand on our nails. Really not too appealing in my opinion.
I normally love Barry M polishes, but I have to admit this one just wasn't for me. I definitely won't be using this more than once.
I'd love to hear if any of you have tried one of these textured polishes yet, and what you think? You can pick them up now, from Superdrug, or online for £3.99.
I've not tried the textured nail polishes, but after reading your review think I'll give them a miss!

Colour looks nice but I think it would annoy me haha btw love your blog and style!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try them but I don't really like nail polishes that don't look smooth and glossy so I think I will spend my money on their 'normal' range.

I feel this is such a gimmicky product...such a shame as it's a gorgeous spring colour! xXx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review, it looks as though Barry M is trying to create that "velvet" textured look.

The colour is lovely, shame about the texture you're right it just looks like a normal polish has been ruined! Will give this one a miss.

Such a shame that this was a miss, such a pretty colour
ReplyDeleteI agree, its such a shame because the gelly hi shine one's are so good! I am definitly stocked up on those! I had to go out and get pomegranate after hearing you talk about it Fleur! xxx
ReplyDeleteI love the colour though :)
ReplyDeleteHave you come across a good brand for the crackly nail type varnish?
I love the feel of this, and that colour is so pretty! x
ReplyDeletewww.justshazea.blogspot.com
This polish reminds me of the nails inc concrete effect polish and the leather effect! I think as an idea it's great but on my nails I really only like glossy high shine finish polishes. I would probably just spend all my time trying to pick it off.

Not tried this yet but it looks not bad on your nails
ReplyDeletealittlebitsunshine.blogspot.co.uk
The colour is so gorgeous, shame about the finish! I feel like a lot of brands are releasing disappointing, gimmicky products because nail art is "in" at the moment.

Its best to apply one thin coat & wait until it is fully dry before doing another.
ReplyDeleteI have Ridely road & I love the texture, I will definitely be picking this one up :)
That's an interesting finish! Beautiful color though.
ReplyDeletethat's so lovely, the colour reminds me of Essie Fiji xx
ReplyDeletehttp://glossyflossy.blogspot.co.uk
Love that colour, but it is a shame about the texture - looks as though you've bumped your nails while wet and then painted over them trying to cover the smudge! But the colour suits your skin tone amazingly! x
ReplyDeletenice!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that it was bad, the colour is so pretty ! Does anyone know of a dupe colour? I need one in my life!

American Apparel has a baby pink which is really similar to this one
DeleteI've tried the mint colour and absolutely love it. It dries really fast, stays on without chips for a whole week and there's not a problem with ugly dents because it hasn't fully dried. For clumsy girls like me, this is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try something that has some nice legit textures. But apparently such thing doesn't exist yet.
ReplyDeleteI actually really like the look of it and I've heard the wear time is amazing! Pretty colour too :) xx
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried texture nail polish before, but I wanted to! However after reading your review I don't think I am going to. It really seems like you have sand on your nails. But I totally love the colour, it's perfect for this season.x

ReplyDeletetextured nails sounds like an interesting idea, and the color is just gorgeous. it's a shame that it was a miss!

despite the texture, I love the colour and always wanted to try barry m!

Think I may give these a miss then, they seemed somewhat interesting when I looked at them but I ended up putting them back when I was in Boots haha.

That colour is beautiful! I've never been a fan of baby pink but this one isnt too 'in your face'. I'm actually quite tempted to pick this up, I've never gotten the whole 'textured nails' thing but for £3.99, it's worth the risk to see if this is something I should entirely avoid in the future…
ReplyDeleteR x
I hate mine :(( xx
ReplyDeleteInstantly when we looked at your picture we thought the nail polish looked strange, so lumpy and bubbly. It's a shame though because it is such a gorgeous colour in the bottle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review Fleur. We probably would have gone out and tried it if we hadn't read this first!

such a pretty baby pink, been on the hunt for a colour like this for ageesss! Shame they dont have BM in Australia :(
ReplyDeleteoh, i'm sure you could re-use it if you put some glitter over the top to hide the texture! such a pretty shade to go to waste...
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of the other comments, the colour is gorgeous, but the texture... not so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post xx

The color is so pretty and the texture is neat but Im sure like with all textured polishes I would be itching to throw a top coat over it out of habit:) xx

your nails on the picture do look really nice however I tried and did a blogpost on them too and I was also unimpressed by them as they look not very good in person!

ReplyDeleteIts SUCH a nice colour, I was actually looking at this the other day, but I'm pretty glad I didn't buy it now!!
ReplyDeleteHave your tried MUA (from Superdrug) furry nails?! xx
if you buy the furry nails get them off ebay. I got 12 pots in various colours (bigger pots than mua) for only £3.49. the postage took a few weeks but it was free and i saved a lot of money
DeleteI agree completely. Its a beautiful colour BUT I don't see the appeal of these at all. Why would I want my nails to look bubbly! No thank you. x
ReplyDeletehttp://fabheadtotoe.blogspot.co.uk/
looks like candy LOL :D
ReplyDeletexx Stephanie (www.stephaniesstyleblog.blogspot.com)
i have the blue (Atlantic Road) and i love it. i was going to buy this colour but i saw the color and instantly thought that it wouldn't be a good purchase. They other colours might better on you? I recommend looking at the blue on as that is really nice
ReplyDeleteI tried this too and felt the same way! So disappointing as I usually love Barry M polishes xxx
ReplyDeleteseeking--serendipity.blogspot.co.uk
I found this product to chip rather easily but I do like the colour range x
ReplyDeletehttp://beautyblahblahblah.blogspot.co.uk/
The colour is so perfect but I don't understand why anyone would want this sort of "texture". It's worse enough having glitter chunks making your nails feel uneven and prickly!
ReplyDeleteFor the same price, the Gelly paints are miles better.

i love the colour but i agree the product isn't as good as other barry m products!
ReplyDeletehttp://abcloxo.blogspot.co.uk/
This is so nice! I don't think i've ever seen these in stores !
ReplyDeleteHisociety101.blogspot.ca
I have the same one - actually wearing it right now, and it looks totally different, much more "textured". However it didn't show until it was completely dry.
ReplyDeleteThe pale link color looks fantastic on your skintone nevertheless!
ReplyDeletenormal barry m nail varnish is really good, i found this really horrible though! looks good on your nails though! x
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous colour, however, I see nothing appealing about the texture! What were they thinking?!
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't throw the polish out though, as that would be such a waste. What do you do with nail polishes you dislike? I try to give them to a friend or neighbour, and if nobody wants it, I donate it to a local thrift store!
I really don't like the whole textured nail craze. Just looking at them actually makes me feel a bit ill. I don't know what it is but they're just not for me.
ReplyDeletexo
love the colour and i used to love the look of these nail varnishes but recently i have been going off of them A LOT x

ReplyDeletehttp://curlsoffashion.blogspot.co.uk/
I agree. This one is unimpressive. Can you get Zoya in the UK? Their Pixie Dust textured polishes have totally won me over. The texture is refined like sugar and they sparkle like crazy!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I have tried the "crackle" nail polish and a similar textured one to this, and didnt like the finish they left, I think I will stick to the glossy cremes in future!

I tried the yellow polish is this range.. what possessed me to buy yellow I have no idea but I wasn't impressed by them either. The texture on the yellow one is even more obvious than the baby pink too.
ReplyDeleteI did a review of it on my blog a while ago here: http://www.kimberleysbeautyblog.com/2013/03/barry-m-textured-polish.html
Kimberley x
it just doesn't look right at all... definitely not jumping on that bandwagon!
ReplyDeleteThey should seriously consider releasing a normal version of this colour! The bubbly effect doesn't look at all appealing, I think the feel of this would just make me shudder.
ReplyDeleteKels x
I've wanted to try texture nail polish but I can't seem to find a good one out there. I thought Barry M would have been good seeing as their normal polish is great. Thanks for the review!

lovely colour <3
ReplyDeleteim going o have to disagree with you. i love the texture of it. i think it is really cool and apart from the yellow i think the colour range is good, in fact i am wearing them all now! xx
