Maybelline 'The Eraser' Concealer Review

I was really intrigued when this little tube shot through my letterbox this week. I absolutely hated Maybelline’s ‘ The Eraser’ foundation (greasy and awkard to apply!) but I do however, adore their other concealers, especially the Dream Lumi Touch one (fabulous for under eye circles. If you haven’t tried it, I would highly recommend that you do!)

So needless to say I was interested to see what this would be like...
I really like the packaging. It looks like a dinky little version of the foundation, and feels solid and nice quality. It took about 100 clicks to get the product going as usual with these types of thing… but after it got flowing the level of product it releases with each click seems good.

As for the applicator...

I know I won’t be alone in detesting it at first sight due to the hygiene aspect (or lack of it!) That aside, it does actually work quite nicely for the undereye area (unlike the foundation version).
The consistency is incredibly light, it almost feels like nothing is on the skin, yet the coverage is pretty decent. I definitely noticed a brightening effect too. It does tend to sit on the skin a little though, so I would recommend blending it in gently with your ring finger for a more even finish.
Wear time was pretty average (I usually re-apply my concealer a couple of times throughout the day regardless of the brand I’m using).

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this. Compared to the foundation version, it’s a complete gem. Compared to the Dream Lumi Touch concealer however… it’s not as good, and a pound more expensive! So if you are tempted by a Maybelline concealer, I would definitely recommend that one over this. If you are always on the go and want something that applies quickly and covers evenly while feeling ultra light-weight on the skin, then this may be the one for you.

You can pick up Maybelline’s ‘The Eraser’ Perfect & Cover concealer now (although I think it’s a little hard to find at the moment, it is available in some stores but I imagine in a few weeks time it will be everywhere!) priced at £7.99.

  4. Could you do a review of the YSL Eyeliner Effect Cils Shocking - Bold Felt-Tip Eyeliner Pen? It's quite expensive, and I'd love to get your opinion on it before I decide to purchase it or not! Thank you!

  5. I think the product itself must be great, but I don't like the fact that it has a kind of sponge on the top. I think it's just a little less hygienic than a concealer with a pump! Great post!

  7. I hate applicators like this. It's a shame that it is a lovely product that you cannot use with out the unhygienic nib :(

  8. You can always just pop the sponge off. That makes it more hygienic and dispenses less product meaning it will last longer.

  13. The sponge is actually antimicrobial, so although it seems not unhygienic it is safe. I also love the concealer but hated the foundation form of this product.

  14. I prefer a separate corrector and concealer for my undereye area as I have pretty bad dark circles but this looks decent for drugstore xx

    1. In Canada, there is a neutralizer in the same format that you put on before the actual concealer. Together they work like a charm. My dark circles are the same colour as the Colour Tattoo in Bronze (Bad to the Bronze), so very dark, and with both products, I have a bright, light under eye area.

The neutralizer might be called differently in the UK, though.

  26. I like this one for my under eye circles - I use the brightening color and it works wonderfully. I've also tried the dream lumi touch, and it works well, but isn't as good at covering my circles. Also, the age rewind concealer has 4X the amount of product as compared with the dream lumi touch. So that's something to consider if you're on a budget like me.

  30. this is one product that I have tried when it first came out with that packaging and I think I got a defected one just because it was extremely watery so of course I threw it away. Now I'm reconsidering to give it another go because this is one product I hear a lot of beauty gurus talk about. This post is amazing thank you so much for this.

  60. I think this would be gross if being used on spots but I guess, as long as your face is clean when you apply makeup then and its only under your eyes its not too bad... I'd definitely try giving it a wipe though! The coverage for this looks really good and I believe it actually has skincare ingredients in to make a difference as well as cover. Definitely something I'd give a try anyway xx

As for the applicator: I removed the sponge because I think it soaks up a lot of product every time I use it (what a waste!). Now I apply it with my fingers and it works just as well as with the sponge. Still very impressed with this product! xx
