First thing to note with this, is that it's super messy! The silver shimmer comes off at the lightest touch, so be careful (especially when picking it up in the shop!)
Once it hits the water, the shimmer quickly disperses and reveals the inner base of cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut, lime, ginger and lavender oils. As this melts away, a blue/green core emerges and turns your bath water a shimmering blue.
While I'm not a huge fan of citrus scents, I found this quite uplifting and pleasant. It left my skin feeling super soft and moisturised (definitely no need for body lotion!) Even the next day I noticed how nice my skin felt.
The one downside to this is that it left a rather unappealing blue/grey scum around my bath. Lush bath products usually leave some kind of residue but this is definitely one of the less appealing ones!
Overall, this product was really nice, but I definitely still prefer my Melting Snowman when it comes to bath melts (who, coincidently is over £1 cheaper at £2.25, compared to this at £3.30). A nice one-off treat, or a lovely gift, but I don't think I'll be purchasing this again.
It's so purdyyyy! Did it leave you glittery at all?
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty! I have to try it :)
ReplyDeleteGuruChatter.BlogSpot.Com
I don't having a bit of mess in the bath to clear up after if it means using a gorgeous lush product like this, this sounds like it smells amazing, love moisturising products!
ReplyDeleteClaudia xx | Beauty and the Chic
I recently bought this as well along with the melting snowman bath melt and I have to say I definitely preferred the melting snowman! xx

I was looking forward to seeing pictures of this, thanks Fleur!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, apart from the left over residue!

I've yet to try any baths bombs / melts from Lush ..maybe next time I'm wandering past the shop..
ReplyDeletePRETTYMADEUP
I would be worried about this leaving me completely covered in glitter! Did you notice this?
ReplyDeleteThis one doesn't look as appealing as the other christmas lush bath bombs when in the water.
ReplyDeleteNever tried a melt, but will have to next time I am in lush!

I love the look of this but the glitter scares me a little bit!

I think this smells so lovely and fresh and it reminds me of orange peel and cloves, the perfect Christmas scent for me :o). Xx

so sparkly! x
ReplyDeletehttp://a-little-treat.blogspot.co.uk
Used this last night (actually half of it--I wanted to try and get two baths out of it) and I did like it, but I agree with you--the biggest downside is the mess it leaves in the tub. And I also agree with you on loving the snowman bath melt--he's my favorite!
ReplyDeletelooks gorgeous but did it leave you all glittery?
ReplyDeletehttp://izzbizzz.blogspot.com.au/
This looks so lovely. I always find with Lush glitter bath products that I ended up with my body covered in glitter once I get out the bath! Oh well, who doesn't like glitter!

Just the fact that it's glittery makes me want to buy it! Lovely review.

Just because it's glittery I feel like I need to try this!
ReplyDeleteLeanne | makeupblast.blogspot.ie | bloglovin.com/blog/3923219
It was nice to see pictures showing how it melts :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing all these reviews of lush products makes me feel like I should get out of my comfort zone and make my way into the lush shop... I always find the scent so... intense. I wouldn't want to smell my bathroom like a lush shop, but if it's only one scent that should be fine, right? Did the glitter 'melt' or were you scrubbing the glitter off of your tub for a week?

So you just throw it to the water and look how it melts in the water? I have a few bath ballistics and I actually don't know, how to use them :D So this is the right way to use them? :)
ReplyDeleteAnd back to the Star Light, Star Bright.. I don't like citrus scents, I usually connect them with the smell of toilet cleaner :D I rather like sweet fruity and floral scents :)
It's so sparkly I want one!

I need to try some of Lush's christmas collection! Winter is definitely the time for long baths.

I love LUSH as a company. I'm not a fan of glittery things, especially in my bath, but the colour changing looks great.
ReplyDeleteI've just blogged about my favourite pamper obsession... the face mask! More importantly, the 4 that REALLY work (one for each skin woe). Check it out at http://sophs-choices.blogspot.co.uk

I just bought this the other day and was lowkey hoping for a more silver in the bath. I haven't tried it yet but glad it left your skin nice and soft. I guess i'm not looking forward to the murky water but as long as it smells nice and makes my skin feel soft it isn't too bad then. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletehttp://kfclovesyou.blogspot.com
LUSH is such an amazing company! xx i love their lip scrubs as well!
ReplyDeleteamygg.blogspot.com
You're only supposed to use PART of the bath melt! That's probably why it left such a ring in your bath tub. The consultant at my Lush counter said that you should get 3-4 baths out of this bath melt.
ReplyDeleteI love Lush products, next time I'm in there it's Christmas shopping time, might have to pick this up for myself!!
ReplyDeletehttp://beautyskooldropout2013.blogspot.co.uk/
I just purchased this too, I can't wait to use it

I've never tried a Lush bath melt, and after seeing your video considered purchasing this one but I think I will stick to your preferred choice, the snowman looks so damn cute! xx

Aaaah! I want this!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty lush product. I'm in lush ALL the time, it's my favourite shop especially around christmas time!

Hey, Fleur, is there a LUSH shop in Norwich?
ReplyDeletei picked it up in the store and regretted it immediately - soo messy! that's why i didn't buy it. but i'm over thinking this decision after reading this post! :) thanks Fleur!
ReplyDeletehttp://annxkathrin.blogspot.co.uk
Lush is lovely! I saw your haul and I agree with your love for Cinders! The one I bought did cackle!
ReplyDeleteI also prefer spicier scents and not a huge fan for citrus, especially for bubble baths as normally they're taken at night and that's when you don't want to feel alert, but sleepy!
I wrote a body products post today too: http://berrybloomxo.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/bath-body-products-haul.html
Great Post!

I saw your video and I was curious to know what would happen to this very bright star, enjoyed good post, but I have a question, in the end you stay yourself with the body completely full of shiny? Xo *
ReplyDeleteI always worry about the glittery products in lush as I don't want to look like a glitter ball:)
ReplyDeleteI was going to get this the other day when I went to Lush but I thought it would leave glitter all over me and my bath tub so I didn't end up getting it! Great review!

Lovely haul!
ReplyDeleteI have a love hate with lush.
I love the products but hate that ring you get in your tub after bathing.
Definitely going to check out that melting snowman bath melt

Wouldn't this make a mess in your tube? :(
ReplyDeleteI liked the smell of this one, but didn't buy it when I went in the other day because of the glittery-ness, my mind went straight to 'my bath will be forever sparkly', but it's good to know that it's nice to your skin :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and I love citrus scents. Too bad it is so messy.
ReplyDeleteI need to invest in some bath melts, I've never tried them! Love the idea of skipping moisturiser ;)

Hi Fleur!
ReplyDeleteA good tip to avoid residue on the sides of your bath is to put a little bit of shower gel or shampoo in your bath water. It also good when you use highly coloured bath bombs.
Sofie
I love the sparkly star! I'm definitely heading to lush to get some of my sisters some presents :)
