Gucci Makeup

Gucci makeup has been floating around the beauty world for a few months now, but has stayed limited to rather exclusive retailers and Gucci online. It launches into World Duty Free this month and I was lucky enough to get sent a few items to try out and I have to say, it's nothing short of fabulous.

The line has launched in full and includes a complete range of eye, face, lip and nail products. Although I haven't had the chance to try out any of the base products, what I have tried has impressed me hugely...

The packaging for a start is simply stunning. It's better made than a lot of my other high end favourites (including Chanel, YSL, even Tom Ford) with the classic gold Gucci 'GG' Emblem on the front of the compacts and embossed into the products themselves. Something about the design has a hint of eighties glamour and I love it.

Packaging aside, because you should never judge a book by it's cover (even though we all do sometimes!) the formulation of these products is really outstanding. The powder products are especially lovely and seem to have the perfect balance of pigmentation, texture and blend-ability. They are pigmented, but not 'too much' and soft but not heavy and therefore blend well and sit beautifully on the skin. The blush is to die for and I've been using it daily since I got it. The shade I have is 'Spicy Petal' and is the perfect natural, day time terracotta shade (£37). 

The eyeshadow duo in 'Aristocratic' (£38) is equally as beautiful. The taupe-based shades compliment each other perfectly and are buildable, so suitable for taking your look from day to night.

Of the three products I tried, the lipstick (£28) was perhaps the least exciting. Although the packaging is stunning, the formulation is nice but not outstanding. 

Overall I was really impressed with this line. I'm sure it's been in the works for a long time and whoever the team have been behind it's creation, they've definitely done the brand justice. The prices reflect the quality of the products and the brand name they carry, so yes, they are expensive. Prices start at £19 for an eyeliner and peak at an eye watering £59 for the powder brush, so they sit on the higher end of high end (along with Tom Ford) - astoundingly expensive but undeniably fabulous!

I think Duty Free may become a rather expensive place from now on! I'm definitely keen to see how the foundation and mascara measure up!
