My Tooth Whitening Mission: The Results!

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I was going to be trying out Crest Whitestrips. Well I have finished the course and thought I'd let you all know how I got along!

First of all a quick low down on the application process. The kit comes with 14 sets of strips (upper and lower teeth). During the treatment, you are meant to apply a set every day for 14 days, leaving them on for 30 minutes each time. The strips stick quite firmly to your teeth during this process, so you are still able to talk and go about your normal activities. I generally applied mine in the evening, before bed.

And now for the (grizzly!) photos:
Before
After

As I'm sure you can all see, there is a marked improvement in the whiteness of my teeth! Overall I was really impressed with the result, considering I paid £26 ($40) I really think these are worth the money if you're thinking about teeth whitening but don't want to shell out to have it done professionally.

My friend actually had her teeth professionally whitened at the same time that I was using the Crest Whitestrips, and kindly let me include some before and after snaps for comparison.

Before
After (though in different lighting!)

As you can see, there is also a noticable difference, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra money...

The only downside to Crest Whitestrips (and to teeth whitening in general) is that they are not particularly healthy for your teeth, and that they do tend to increase the sensitivity of your teeth during use. I experienced increased sensitivity during the treatment, but it wasn't too bad (nothing that swicthing to Sensodyne toothpaste couldn't fix!)

So all in all, if you are set on the idea of tooth whitening (and you've read up on the downsides for your teeth!) then I think that Crest Whitestrips are definitely worth a try. They really do work and are considerably cheaper than professional whitening.

If you're in the UK, it is much cheaper to buy these in the US (or get someone to buy some for you!) but you can still get hold of them via various UK websites and from ebay (Though be warned when buying from ebay, these do have an expiry date!)

  2. I got some of those crest whitestrips, from ebay [they were in date ;)] I did think they were making a difference but after a few applications they made my teeth very very sensitive. It was so awful I couldn't sleep & I didn't finish the box. Everyone has different experiences though.

  4. I have been wanting to do these but I can only find them for $53.00 which is still kind of pricey. I was going to use my Health Savings Account to buy them but with Obama's new rules you cant! :( Darn it!

  11. They worked just as well on me, I was very surprised too! Like you though, my bottom teeth didn't end up being as white as the upper row but it was still a very noticeable difference. I didn't experience any sensitivity during use but I've had my teeth whitened at the dentist's before so perhaps I'm a little more used to pain :)

  13. I used these they are amazing! The results are fab. They did cause a bit of sensitivity though, but as my teeth were fairly white to begin with I only used them a few times. I now just use them once in a while to 'top up' as I drink black coffee all the time I don't want to let the whiteness slip! x

  34. A cheaper way to whiten my teeth, is of course, the way to go. But if I had my teeth done professionally and if it'll be noticeably whiter, then I think, the extra cost would be fine. Using these kind of products have side effects, like feeling tingly afterwards. Why risk having those sensations when you can ask your dentist to do it for you -- worry-free and risk-free.

  35. Amazing results. I would like to try those, but I have to consult with my Austin Dentist because I have really sensitive teeth.

  36. Fantastic result! The product absolutely did its job to whiten your teeth! Look at them, they are sparkling and clean! Anyway, I think you have to use it in moderation because it contains some chemicals that might cause sensitivity to your gums. Thanks for sharing!
