Last week I got the chance to check out the brand new affordable makeup line 'Vivo', which launches into Tesco stores this month, and (despite the slightly dated packaging!) it's actually very impressive.
The range is rather large so I've chosen my top picks from the line to look out for next time you pop out to get the groceries!
The first thing I gravitated towards was the 'Ultimate Base Concealer Kit', which contains two shades of concealer, a setting powder and a mini highlighter.
I was hoping for a UK equivalent to my all time favourite Sonia Kashuk 'Hidden Agenda' palette. Alas, this doesn't give quite the same level of coverage, but it's a good little palette - especially for only £5. The highlighter is gorgeous too (see below pictures - It's the same stuff as the full size highlighter.)
Next up is the 'Ultimate Brow and Eye Kit' which is a real gem in the collection.
Its doesn't look that exciting on first glance, but the trio of matte brown powders can be used for your brows or eyes, and the kit also contains a mini brow gel so the kit is perfect for keeping in your handbag.

It's also the only 'drugstore' brow kit of its kind I've seen... super convenient and only £5.
I was also very impressed by the formulation of the lipsticks: very creamy and moisturising and they taste of vanilla.
My favourite is 'Barely There', the perfect rose-nude shade. They come in 9 shades and are priced at £1.99 each.
They also have a lovely selection of baked products. The blushes come in four shades, are nicely pigmented with a little shimmer.
'Rosy' is a gorgeous bright pink shade that blends out to give a nice natural glow to the skin. (£4 Each)
The 'Baked Bronzers' seem more like highlighters to me, but make amazing dupes for the MAC Mineralised Skin Finishes for a fraction of the price at £5.
Baked Bronzer in 'Healthy Glow'
Another stand-out product in the line are the Baked Shimmer Palettes (£6).
Each contains a blush and four shades of eyeshadow.
The pigmentation isn't amazing but they look simply gorgeous and have a really pretty, subtle glitter in them that look gorgeous on the eyes.
Last but certainly not least is the Highlighter (£5). These kind of things are near impossible to photograph, so the snap below really doesn't do the product justice but this multi-purpose liquid highlighter is simply gorgeous.
Similar to MAC's Strobe Liquid Lotion, you can mix it in with your foundation or use it as a cheek and brow highlight. You get 30ml of product too, which is enough to last you half a lifetime!
Overall, I was really impressed by the new Vivo line. Although the packaging is very dated, it is surprisingly sturdy and good quality. Some of the products aren't great, and yes, there are more than a few dodgy shades, as there are in every affordable makeup line, but there are certainly a few gems in there and I'd thoroughly recommend having a browse when the line hits a Tesco store near you soon!
Your right about the packaging. But it looks like good quality makeup. x

That highlighter looks a lot like Benefit Moon Beam! It's gold with a peachy pink shimmer. Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeletelooks really good stuff, I will have to keep a look out for this range xxx
ReplyDeleteI have an eyeshadow palette from Vivo and whilst the packaging isn't flash, you really can't expect it to be amazing like Urban Decay's 15th anniversary or Book of Shadows, this is an affordable makeup brand and the eyeshadows I have are as good as a Sleek palette and some of the MUA eyeshadows. I also have a shimmery lipgloss and I really like it.
ReplyDeleteI feel Fleur's comment about the packaging makes it sound flimsy but its not, its really quite good.
I'll be buying more from this range. Not all of us can afford Chanel products and
earn lots of money from YouTube.
There's nothing wrong with this brand, every makeup range has a hit or miss product, some work for you, some won't but these don't cost much but I still think its pretty good quality and value for money.
Definitely recommend you try these products and dismiss the notion the packaging is outdated. If nicer packaging was used they'd put the prices up. The packaging is more than adequate.
so glad i have a tesco like 5 minutes from me! I just did a review on the topshop make up range so i might have to try out some of these products for a bit of a comparison!
ReplyDeleteThe Baked Shimmer palettes look similar to the eyeshadows and blushes that Accessorize do! :)
ReplyDeleteHave you any idea whether these products are animal tested or not? xxx
I cant wait to try some of this! Tescos Barbara Daily collection is actually really nice too:)

After reading this a few weeks ago i have been keeping my eyes open if it to come into my local store and wow they are everything you say and more! it makes me wonder how other beauty companies can charge so much for there products! I picked up one of the liquid liners, there £2 and come in black, brown(which is more bronze) plum, black glitter and slate grey( which is more gunmetal in color. If you haven't seen them yet you must go and have a look. Once they have dried there strong in color and don't smudge or bleed out and there water resistant (although it doesn't say this on the bottle)
ReplyDeletelove love love! your reviews and youtube!
xx
i want to buy their products! xxx
ReplyDeletethe brow kit looks good normally the colours are too dark for me...but this looks perfect shades!
