To be honest the deep purple duochrome, shimmer polish is right up my street regardless so I snapped up a few bottles when i saw it in Boots last week. (Word on the street was that it was sold out everywhere, but I've actually seen it a few times now!)
As many have already reported online, It's disappointingly sheer and will require 4 coats to reach anything near opacity (above). It's best layered over other polishes to get the effect in half the time. You can layer it over light or dark colours for different tones of purple.
I think I prefer it over the lighter shades (see above, on top of avon Cosmic Blue and below, on top of Barry M Berry Ice Cream)
Overall, I think the colour is definitely worth the hype, it's not something I've seen before, and if you're willing to overlook the formulation... it looks stunning on the nails! It's only £3.99 too and on 3 for 2 in Boots at the moment.
I picked up an extra three polishes to give away to three lucky readers this week! All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is:
1. Be a follower of my Blog
2. Write a comment on this post telling me what 'hyped-up' product you've recently purchased and what you think of it!
3. Make sure you include an email address or twitter name so that I can get in touch if you win!
Good luck girls!
I love love love this nail polish! I recently tried the NYX Super Skinny Eye Marker after reading and seeing a lot about it online. I am hooked!
ReplyDeleteI've always been terrible at applying liquid eyeliner, but this product makes it super simple. I'll definitely recommend it!

The last hyped-up product I can think of was the EOS lipbalm in Mint. I love the smell and the tingling sensation I get on my lips, but I find that it doesn't really moisturize my lips all that well. I still continue to use it though.
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased the benefit 'they're real!' mascara and I'd have to say, I wasn't too pleased! I think it's just my eyelashes that aren't particularly compatible with it, but I've heard plenty of good things about it!

To be honest, I haven't bought any of the hyped up products because here in Kuwait, we're so behind timewise and still haven't gotten most of the products in stores yet! Like the maybelline colour tattoos, the bouncy blushes, and the revlon lip butters.. still waiting anxiously and anxiously! hehe.. I did though buy the Maybelline Colossal mascara which was fairly hyped up and I absolutely love it!

I bought the much 'hyped up' vitalumier aqua liquid foundation from Chanel on a recent trip to London. I had to save up all my pennies to be able to afford it but I have to say I think it is worth every penny. I don't use it everyday as I can't afford to replace it. But it gives amazing coverage whilst still being light weight which is unlike any other foundation I have tried before. You can't even notice you are wearing it which is a strange feeling at first as I am used to feeling heavy foundation on my skin.
ReplyDeleteLove love love this product!! Thanks Fleur, hope you enjoy NYC :)

Hi Fleur!
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater!
I heared a lots of great things about it but after I saw Missglamorazzi's March Favourites 2012 video, of course I had to have it xD !!!
And it is really AMAZING!!!
You can use it as a toner or as a light moisturizer or as a makeup setting spray or
you can use pigment powders that you want to use wet, it works much better than water or you can use it for your scalp if it's irritated and itchy! :)
I've really sensitive, and acne-prone skin and it is really calming and my skin is so much brighter since I've used it!!!
It's 4,5/5 on makeupalley!

Hello Fleur!
ReplyDeleteI am most definitely a follower of your blog already!
The hyped-up product I have recently purchased was the Revlon ColorBurst lip butters after finally getting my hands on some(you replied to me on twitter when I couldn't find them anywhere!). I bought "Lollipop" and "Sugar Frosting" because I do tend to wear pinks and lilacs on my lips. The pigmentation is superb and it is very moisturising which I am so pleased about because I hate wearing a lipstick and it leaves your lips feeling dry! Overall I am very happy with the product and I'm sure I can squeeze more shades in my make up collection!
I have not yet tried the new Maxfactor nail polishes and would love to put this colour to the test with some other brands shades like you have demonstrated.

Well I recently visited 3 stores searching for Impress nails, and only found them in my local drug store.I purchased the black ones and first I was extremely skeptical because all that was supposed to hold them to your fingers was a bit of gel. But applying only took about 5 minutes, and they looked extremely natural, and you can file them. They lasted about four days for me and were extremely easy to remove. So all in all one of the best hyped up products I have tried in a long time.

Love the look of the giveaway. The hyped up product I have been loving is the Garnier BB Cream, I thought it was just going to be your average tinted moisturiser but I love it! Perfect for the warmer weather during the next few months.

I don't know if it is exactly being hyped up about but I recently purchased the L'oreal Caress lipstick! It's literally perfect! x

This looks amazing :) i recently bought the costa chic lipstick from MAC on your recommendation actually :) i love it and although its definitely more of a summer colour i don't own many bright lipsticks so its perfect!

revlon lip butters were disappointingly bad the packagins was terrible and the lipstick smushed everywhere my first one melted in the car but it has good colour range will not be purchasing again becuae of the price tage. me_cutie90@hotmail.co.uk
ReplyDeleteI got the Naked palette. It's not avaible here in Brazil, so I purchased from BeautyBay. I'm still waiting for it to arrive here, it always take sooo long! prizim(at)terra.com.br
ReplyDeleteHi Fleur :) I recently purchased the Revlon lip butters as I'd heared so much about them- I got the shade sugar frosting which is the most amazing colour as its quite sheer so you can either go for a sutle look or more of a brighter look which I always favor! Very creamy and versitile! thanks very much for the giveaway! My email adress is rainbowgirlred@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Emily xx
I bought the Models Own Hedkandi glitter in 'Disco Mix', mainly because of the hype and I am a little disappointed - the blue in the glitter just does not show up so it's essentially just an expensive gold glitter topcoat! Fantasy Fire is really pretty over Berry Ice Cream, such a good idea! I'm @squigglyee on Twitter, thanks for the lovely giveaway :) xx
ReplyDeleteI got Revlon Whimsical (a cheaper version of DL Glitter in the Air). It was ok, nothing to write home about. Thanks
ReplyDeletejuan_hurrican(at)yahoo.com
I got barry m lilac (not so much hype anymore but for a while it was all over the place!), i love it :) definetly going to get some more barry m polishes soon

the maybeline colour tattoo eyeshadows, they definitely had the staying power, I just wish there were more colours in the range! but sitll, good quality for a drugstore product.

i got an Essence nail polish in the shade blue addicted. it was very hyped up in Hungary when it came out, because it is a close dupe for the Deborah Lippmann nail polish in the shade Across the Universe.i think it's very beautiful, the only bad thing about it is that it's really hard to remove. :)

Liz Earle Clean and Polish Cleanser! I had to wait forever for it to arrive to the U.S. but it was so worth it. Whenever I use the cleanser it's feels like my skin can breath. Ahhh. So refreshing.

I know it's been out for a long time, but I finally splurged on NARS Laguna Bronzer. I absolutely love it and couldn't live without it now! Thanks so much for doing this!

ReplyDeleteazadranowicz@gmail.com
The last hyped up product I bought is Marc Jacobs daisy eua so fraiche and I'm glad I did! It's light and fresh and a unique smell. I also love the flowery bottle its really pretty! X
ReplyDeleteDon't know how hyped up it is but I bought it because of a stellar blog post review, the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Seed Cleansing Balm, and WOW is it amazing! I believe its very similar to the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (cant say as havent tried that) where its a balm you rub into the face and remove with a hot cloth. It smells heavenly, cleanses really well, and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized (great for my dehydrated skin).
ReplyDeletepandazaur@gmail.com
I've recently purchased Essie's Mint Candy Apple and I think it's absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeletejenshih0607@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteMost of the hyped up products are not avaliable in my country, so I haven't bought anything special recently. Having said that, I'll probably be ordering some Revlon lip products online if I can find them. They look amazing!

Soap & Glory body butters, I recently got it in the gift set trio in Boots and got the free shower wash to go with it. It really works so nicely on my scaly skin!
ReplyDelete@KirstyLiu
The most recent hyped up product that I have bought is the Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop. I don't know if I just happened to pick up a bad one or if something else happened, but mine starts off creamy, but dries out my lips after five minutes. The color payoff is absolutely beautiful though.
ReplyDeletethis is such a pretty color! :)
ReplyDeletemy most hyped up product is OPI Nail Laqure it just hardens the nails to the max! addictiveee!! Check out my blog :D http://yourbrunetteguru.blogspot.co.uk/

Hi Fleur, I am torn between the Naked pallet 2 and the Revlon lip butters. I love the pallet so much, more than the 1st. I love the lip butter in strawberry shortcake, its a fab color and love the sheer formula too as I'm not a big lippie fan. Loving your vlog's. xXx hyland.kathy@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, and I don't really like it that much due to the crazy sparkle it leaves on my face :(
