Review: Khroma Beauty by The Kardashians

I was very intrigued to hear that the Kardashian sisters were releasing their own makeup line. Their makeup (especially Kim's) is becoming somewhat iconic in the modern beauty world, so I was interested to see what they would come up with for their own line.

The line is currently in somewhat of a 'pre-launch' state, with a few varieties of lashes, four different mascaras, one lip set and the staple of the line, the 'Kardazzle' palettes currently available.

As far as I can tell, they are due to release more products early this year. The current products appear to be available now at Ulta in the US and online via the Khroma Beauty website, but there isn't an abundance of information about these products (or the upcoming additions) out there at the moment.
So what are the products actually like?

I loved the idea of the Kardazzle palettes. They come in three shade varieties (one for each sister's style of makeup) and each contain four matte eyeshadows, four shimmer eyeshadows, two blushes and a highlighter, all packaged in a dinky handbag-sized compact. Baring in mind that these products retail for $12.99, I think they are great little kits. Personally, the colours aren't what I would choose, but there is no denying that they are decent value for money.
Kim's 'Kardazzle' Palette
Khloe's 'Kardazzle' Palette
The pigmentation of the eyeshadows is really quite impressive. They are nice and soft, strongly pigmented, and certainly give a lot of other 'drugstore' brands a run for their money.
Kim's eyeshadows
Khloe's Eyeshadows
As usual with eyeshadow, the matte shades weren't as impressive as the shimmers, but they still perform nicely.

The face powders were pretty impressive too, though I would have liked to have seen more of a solid 'bronzer' colour. I'm not sure if the darker shades are meant to be bronzers, or more natural blushes, but to me they definitely seem to pink/peachy for bronzer.

Kim's face powders
While I'm not a huge fan of the snakeskin print on the packaging, I think these little palettes are definitely worth a look if you like the shades.

I was less impressed with the nude lip set. This is currently the only lip product available from the line, and while the lip gloss is a nice shade and tastes like honey, I was unimpressed by the dual-ended lip liner/lipstick. The consistency wasn't great (the liner is super sticky) and the shade was a little off for my skin tone, so it just ended up looking really unflattering on me.

All in all, I was impressed by the value for money of these products, but they didn't blow me away shade-wise. I'm sure they will be popular with the hardcore Kardashian fans and sell well off the back of the girls' immaculate makeup. I'd be interested to see what the rest of the line will be like, and I would love to try out the mascaras.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this brand in the future.

You can buy Khroma makeup from Ulta in the US, and online here.

  5. I'm not a fan of the snakeskin packaging either but the products look gorgeous, the colours in Khloe's palette look beautiful, very me! I'm glad to hear the pigmentation is decent too, been wondering what the quality of the shadows is like for a while so happy to see a review on them! :)

I hope you are having a lovely weekend :) xxx

  6. I like the concept of the kardazzle palettes, but the colors aren't really anything I think I would realistically use all that much.

  7. I've seen reviews on this collection which mostly haven't been good reviews saying that they are cheap and not worth the money, but the products seem quite decent from your review.

    1. I don't really get people saying they aren't worth the money, as these aren't expensive products. Especially in the US where they retail for $12.99 (and are currently buy one get one 50% off!) I think the colours aren't thebest, but in terms of the value for money, I think they are good. Personally the colours aren't up my street but I know a lot of people like shades like these :)

  13. It looks neat, but not my favourite colours either Fleur, I think there is something to be said about marketting when it comes to reality stars, atleast they are "branching out" of sorts, and sharin their beauty styles with the world!

  14. I really wanted to buy these palettes but was really really skeptical just because they haven't done it before. But like you say, don't knock it before you try it. I prefer Kim's eye shadow palette. It's more of what I usually use. I may even purchase it.

  22. It's so cool to finally see a review of the Khroma line, Fleur! I have to admit I was sceptical about how good the quality would be, but I really like the look of Khloe's eyeshadow pallete. I think this may have to be my next investment make-up wise :D

  23. I prefer Khloe's palette to Kim's because the colours are more wearable and therefore better value for money, but I guess Kim's would be good for nighttime makeup. However, I'm not a Kardashian fan so I can definitely make do with other brands!

  41. I personally tried the eyeliner and eyelashes. I was very impressed with the eyelashes, I had to trim them so they would fit my eyes but other than that I quite liked it. Now the eyeliner was bad, really bad. The consistency was horrible, you barely get any color payoff (I used it on my water line) & it rubbed off very quickly. I don't think I will try out any other make up from them. I've heard very mix reviews from the eyeshadows and not many good from the lips products.

  42. Khloe a kardazzle palette appeals to me the most. Although I really do like Kim's blushers & highlight.
