After having my eyes set on Chanel's new limited edition burgundy nail polish in Provocation, from their new Twin-Sets collection, but being a little disappointed when I saw it in person this week (see my previous post if you don't know what I'm talking about!) I decided to treat myself to an Essie nail polish that I've had my eyes on for a while. It's a very similar shade to the Chanel, but a little nicer in my opinion, and quite a bit lighter on the wallet!
It's Bahama Mama. A gorgeous deep red/purple burgundy shade that, in my opinion is just perfect for autumn, and the exact shade I had in mind when I was eyeing up the Chanel variant online.
This is only my fourth Essie polish, and I have to say they formulation is better than any of their other shades I own. It's thick enough to give great opaque coverage in one coat, but not too thick.
The wide brush makes it super quick and easy to apply and it has a smooth, glossy finish. You can leave it at one coat, but two deepens the gorgeous shade. Amazing. I have a feeling this will be my polish of choice for the season.
Essie polishes are available from larger Boots stores in the UK, or online here priced at £7.99.
What do you think? What's your favourite Essie polish?
This is such a lovely color that had autumn written all over it! looks lovely on your nails too!

what base and topcoat do you use? xxx
ReplyDeleteSally Hansen hard as nails as a base, no topcoat! (I'm at my mums so didn't have one with me!)
DeleteI purchased the Essie polish in bachlorette bash last week. It's a fun pink color but it's darker than the shades that were popular this summer. Making it the perfect color to wear if you're not quite ready to let go of sunshine & neons!
ReplyDeleteThis colour is so beautiful and perfect for Autumn. My you're brave lying in the grass to get those shots! Putting yourself in danger of a bug attack for your blog - that's commitment! :P

Right before coming over here to read this post I saw Ingrid had posted a pic on instagram with exactly the same nail polish. so funny.
ReplyDeleteLove that color. But my favorite Essie color at the moment is over the edge, which might possibly be a dupe for Chanel's Vertigo. I am not sure though.
Absolutely love this colour and it's a perfect shade for the autumn!

I bought this last December after I realised at the last minute I hadn't painted my nails for a weekend trip. I wore it in for 4 days straight without chipping and the colour is just divine. It might be the first nail polish I'll repurchase.

ReplyDeleteI recently rediscovered Essie after not giving it much of a thought for years. The formula is great and lasts longer than most similarly priced brands.
