I've never tried anything from 'Clean Skincare' brand REN before, although it has come highly recommended from lots of other bloggers. I love to treat my skin to a face mask at the weekend to freshen up and have a bit of a pamper session. This weekend my mum joined me in road testing Ren's Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. It's an exfoliating mask formulated with four types of acid, that promises to leave your skin looking radiant, and dramatically improving your skin tone and texture. It's recommended as a fantastic treatment for congested, mature or acne-scarred skin, but is suitable for all skin types (except very sensitive) and promises to leave your skin glowing.
Ren's packaging is very clean and clinical. Their products are expensive (this mask is sold for £30 for 50ml) but not necessarily luxury. I don't mind this when it comes to skincare. As much as lovely packaging looks nice on your dressing table, it's what's inside that counts.
The product itself is golden honey-like in both it's colour and texture. It spreads over the skin smoothly, and feels almost like an oil cleanser.
The instructions tell you to leave it for 10 minutes, and say that it might sting a little. Neither of us experienced a stinging or tingling, but the scent of the mask is absolutely heavenly. To me it smells like fresh orange blossom. The ingredient list boasts passionfruit, grape, pineapple and lemon extracts and I have a feeling that may have something to do with the scent. Either way - it's absolutely divine.
After 10 minutes, you remove the mask using the cloth supplied with the product. The mask left my skin feeling super smooth and simply glowing. I can honestly say I think this is the best face mask I've ever used (a bold claim, I know!) Not many face masks give such noticeable instant results, so I was highly impressed with this. I had a sample size of their radiance perfection serum too, and used this in conjunction with this mask, that was fantastic too.
Here's mums review: "Lovely" (after pestering her for a more insightful summary) "It's made my skin feel really soft and smooth, and it definitely looks brighter! Can't see any difference with the wrinkles though - what a shame! Haha. I'd definitely use it again, and I don't normally use face masks, oh and I like the pump thing!"
I'm seriously impressed by my first experience with REN, and will definitely be looking in to more of their products in the future. You can pick them up in John Lewis, Liberties, Selfridges, and online here.
I so want to try some of the REN products! They all look so good!

Haha, I like your Mum's review 'I like the pump thing'. I know exactly what she means though, I always prefer a product with a pump, makes things so much easier. I want to give this a go now, it sounds great x
ReplyDeleteGreat review, i always wanted to try this mask since it contains glycolic acid, i may just have to buy it ^^ xxx
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteNice review, I like very much REN !
I would really advise you to turn into "natural skincare"..at least, you know what you put on your skin and you know ingredients are effective and not just superficial or not active :-)))))
If you want to learm a bit more, you are all welcome to visit my blog for beauty tips and reviews:

how many uses do you reckon you could get out of it? xxx
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to try this for ages now put the price is so off-putting!
ReplyDeleteHowever, your bold claim that it's the best you've ever tried (and I'm sure there have been a few) is intriguing! I have always had good skin but have recently started suffering from the odd breakout on my skin, and my t-zone has become oily too, so I'd be interested to see if this helps with either of those things.

This looks like a really good product, but I'm sensitive to Vit C so the words "citric acid" scare me a little. It's great that your review offers two perspectives:)
ReplyDeletePictures of before and after?
ReplyDeleteLoved this review, never tried anything from them!
Hi Fleur, glad you like this - it's one of my faves! REN were kind enough to send me samples (very unexpectedly!) and one of them was the F10 Smooth & Renew mask, very similar to this one, but slightly more gentle - definitely one for sensitive skins! I love the results from both though, very much worth the price tag!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree! This mask is totally the bomb diggity! I've been wanting to try the serum because I really need a serum in my skincare regime :) Maybe I'll ask for a sample at Sephora today :)
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds great! I'll definitely have to give this a try, as I never see much of a result (apart from drier skin!!) with the masks I try! Love citrussy scented things too! Head over to my blog http://thebeautifullybeautifulbaker.blogspot.co.uk/ .......please comment subscribe etc, and I'll subscribe to you! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI need to pick this up. You should try the AHA serum also from the same line, it is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteREN Skincare is so high up on my wishlist, next pay day purchase!
ReplyDeleteX
I really want to try some Ren products
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to try REN's product, and recently I finally ordered online! I cannot wait to try them out, but yes they are expensive...!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your review I'm dying to try out this face mask! I probably use a face mask once a week like you do, and this one bottle might last 2-3 months? Then it's worth it! Thanks for the review :)

I've long wanted to try this, can't wait to get my hands on one of these bottles!
ReplyDeletehttp://rokderm.com/
I tried this mask in a sample and was immediately turned off by the sticky texture and the smell (which reminded me rather of expired orange juice, honestly.) However, I gave it a try and after I removed it, I knew I had to purchase the full size. Brightening, lightening, peeling, renewing... it does what it says, and does it well. I like to apply it at night (once a week, with a brush) and use my Visionnaire right afterward-- it might just be my imagination, but I feel like the serum sinks instantly into my skin following the peel.
ReplyDeleteSo, while I don't particularly enjoy using it, I have to agree with Fleur. This is a great mask, and well worth a try out.
I highly recommend you try the Mayblossom cleanser! It's absolutely lovely!

ReplyDeletewww.thriftyfriday.blogspot.com -This week is "Low Cost Fragrances"
REN products are amazing! I bought a skincare kit of theirs from Sephora a while back and love everything in it. To me, it's fairly expensive and I have a ton of skincare products to go through before I can even think about buying something new!

I love this mask! I have a little sample size & love it, I think it is worth the investment if you can afford it! Xx

I started using this mask last week (also my first experience with REN) and I can say that I noticed a better skin with one aplication. It really works!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't stop to look at my face in the mirror! haha ;)
Used it again yesterday and... definetely LOVE IT!

I've tried this a few times too and really liked the results. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue using it as my skin sensitivity flared up more and more after each use. I just got a little more red than I like the following day. Not a disaster but also not great looking. Another great one to try which leaves me with no sensitivity issues is Dermalogica's Gentle Creamy Exfoliant. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a helpful review! I may have to get a sample of this next time at Sephora, since post-acne marks and dullness are an issue for me. Thanks for sharing :)

I was planning to purchase this on payday, but was sceptical about the results:price ratio! You're the blogger I've been reading/watching the longest, and when this post popped up, it was like fate - it's clearly meant to be... at least, that's what I'll tell myself at the till! ;)
ReplyDeleteId love to try this mask! It looks lovely.

Purchased the REN starter kit for normal skin. It was on a 50% sale! YEY! Can't wait to try the products.
