Brow This Way: Gimme Brow Dupe?

Another new Rimmel review today! A few weeks ago I picked up one of their new 'Brow This Way' coloured brow gels in Medium Brown. After Benefit's 'Gimme Brow' caused quite a bit of fanfare when it launched this year, I thought it would be interesting to compare the two.
The Rimmel version comes in 3 different shades (plus a clear one, which I'm ignoring for this post as it's not really comparable to the others). As you can see from the pictures, they look a little bit like a mini mascara...

You brush these onto your brows for an instant boost in thickness and volume. I have to admit, when I first heard about this kind of product (NARS were on it years ago) I thought I'd never see the day where I wanted to try one, but as I've gotten more confident with my brows, it's something that I've grown to love.
Compared to the benefit version, the brushes are GIANT. This is one of the main downsides for me, as they aren't dinky enough to really be subtle with your brush strokes. When using these, I often get a bit of gel where I don't want it, due to the wand being so big and carrying more product than you need. The formula is also quite different to the benefit version. It's quite a bit more pigmented, so they aren't as subtle. Benefit also offer a cooler, more ashy tone too (see below comparison), which is what a lot of people are looking for when it comes to brows. The Rimmel ones are slightly warmer.
Yes, these are similar products, but we definitely don't have the dupe on our hands that I was hoping for. The giant difference in price point still makes the Rimmel versions appealing (£3.99 compared to £17.50) but they aren't quite as good.

Have any of you tried these yet? What do you think?

  1. Think I'll definitely try the Benefit one instead. The wand is massive and I think cooler toner definitely look better on brows. Have you tried the Maybelline brow gel?

    1. I agree about the tone of the Benefit one looking more natural. Most people's brows are ashy-coloured as opposed to warm

  2. After reading this I'll probably go for the Benefit one as I don't like a warm brow shade! The clear brow gel from Rimmel however is actually really good and a staple in my current make up routine!

  3. I didn't tried the Rimmel ones yet, but I'm obsessed with my Benefit gimme brow. The color is perfect for me and with my shaky hands I don't think the Rimmel ones are going to work great.. I'll stay with Benefit, but I'm stil really curious. Maybe Í'll give it a try!

  7. I bought the Rimmel Brow This Way and I'm very happy with it! The dark brown shade matches my eyebrows perfectly. The brush is quite large, but since I have big eyebrows to begin with, I actually like it because it's fast to apply. I've never tried the Benefit one though, so I can't really compare, but I really love the Rimmel one.

  13. I actually quite like it for the price but the brush is super annoying, I tend to wipe of a lot of the product when `I use this. Looks like I need the benefit option ;)

  30. I haven't tried either of these but I'm loving the Model Co More Brows gel at the moment. It's got an ashy tone and has a tiny brush like the Benefit one - perfect for shaky hands. For those of you who prefer the darker brow but aren't a fan of the Rimmel wand, the Maybelline version has a really small applicator as well.

  47. I did try the Benefit Gimme Brow, but I have red hair. Their colour selection for me just was not cutting it. I don't need ashy tones really, I need the warmer shades. I wish the brush was smaller on these Rimmel ones, because their colour selection sounds a little more like what I'm after.

  48. I gave these a go two months ago and used it only a couple of times and haven't touched it ever since! The brush is away too big and makes more mess than what it's meant to do! Can't argue with the price though! I bought mine in the darkest shade as it was the only one available in my superdrug so I look quite funny with super dark brows and delicate face makeup haha x
